Two (2) Part Time, School – Term Only (30 Hours per week, 200 Days/year) positions. Exempt employees are considered “at will” and serve at the discretion of the appointing officer. School-Term-Only ( STO ) employees are hired for a specific work calendar and may not have an assignment during the school academic breaks.
These positions are grant-funded and are funded on a yearly basis. Hours are subject to change after appointment dependent upon grant status.
Under the general supervision of the DSPS Departmental Chair and Dean of Students Success, the 3598 School Aide III positions assist in the instruction of provision of services to community college students with disabilities. These positions will have responsibilities and duties based in the DSPS Office, providing services to students with disabilities by supporting the DSPS Reception Desk, the Testing Accommodations Desk, and assisting to check out special equipment.
Job Duties
1. Assist with testing accommodations such as scheduling, proctoring, scribing or reading tests while ensuring test security.
2.. Greet students, answer phones and assist with making appointments and answering questions from students, faculty, other stakeholders and the public.
3. Check out adaptive equipment and lockers to students and brief students on use.
4. Help fill in for the other office and classroom staff during lunches, breaks and absences.
5. Attend trainings and office meetings.
6. Assist students with non-credit application and registration for classes.
7. Help guide students to the appropriate college resources and offices on campus.
8. Data input and file management for MIS submission and Student Learning Outcomes reporting.
9. Assist DSPS instructors in DSPS classes as needed.
10. Provide in-person, remote, and online support and services to students.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Successful completion of two (2) years of college (60 semester units) PLUS paid experience working with young people or college students.
Note: Work experience with the District as a College Work Study ( CWS ) student or Lab Aide (3591 classification) will not be considered or applied as qualifying experience.
Desirable Qualifications
1. Training in or experience with customer service.
2. Ability to communicate clearly, interact effectively and sensitively with students and staff from diverse backgrounds and with various disabilities.
3. Previous reception and telephone experience.
4. Computer literate and familiar with common office applications.
5. Strong ability to multi-tasks and work well with frequent interruptions.
6. Experience working with persons with disabilities.
7. Experience proctoring tests.
8. Experience with SARS , Banner, and/or Argos.
9. Ability to speak Spanish, Chinese, and/or use American Sign Language.
Benefits
1. Additional Days Off with Pay. As stipulated in the appropriate bargaining agreements and board resolutions, Classified employees working full-year (260 days/year) work schedules are granted, as paid days off, the days between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, as well as an additional five (5) paid days off during spring break. Eligible school-term-only ( STO ) employees who are not scheduled to work the designated days between Christmas and New Year’s Day shall be granted three (3) paid days off to be scheduled by mutual agreement between the employee and supervisor. Eligible school-term-only ( STO ) employees who are not scheduled to work the days designated as Spring Break will not be paid for these days off.
2. New employees hired on or after October 1, 2013 will contribute 2% of salary to the San Francisco Retiree Health Care Trust Fund ( RHCTF ).
