SUMMARY Riverview Retirement Community is seeking an energetic, motivated, and detail orientated Accounting Specialist to join our Finance team. This person will be responsible for providing accurate and timely accounting services to the Riverview Retirement Community VP of Finance. This person will also be one of the first points of contact for residents, family members, staff, vendors, and outside representatives for all accounting needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create a positive first impression of Riverview Retirement Community
- Provide prompt and professional customer service to residents, family members, staff, vendors, and outside representatives.
- Communicate with residents and/or responsible parties regarding invoices and financial obligations.
- Manage accurate and up to date records including accounts receivable (A/R), accounts payable (A/P), general ledger, admissions and census numbers, resident insurance information and financial files, bank deposits and reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, employee reimbursements, research outstanding checks, IRS Form 1099's, property tax, petty cash, and resident trust accounts.
- Perform routine billing processes by ensuring account setup, invoice distribution, collection, and posting of payments in a timely and accurate manner.
- Identify, research and correct billing discrepancies.
- Manage collections of all receivables according to Riverview's procedures and document efforts within billing system.
- Manage AP process from receiving bills, requesting W-9s, review bills/statements for accuracy, data entry, approvals, processing checks, researching vendor issues, and establish and maintain relationships with vendors.
- Assist with admission process for new residents by verifying payer source and accuracy of resident setup.
- Complete month-end close within designated timeframe, assist with general ledger reconciliation and analysis, participate in monthly A/R review, complete necessary reports as required and help with year-end audit and Form 990 filing.
- Assist with inter-division billing and reconciliation.
- Other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in accounting or related field
- 1+ years of similar accounting role
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and internet-based tools and programs
- Maintain a strong internal control environment and highest ethical standards
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Foster efficiencies in all tasks wherever possible
- Ability to read, speak and communicate clearly and professionally in the English language
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines
- Thrive in a fast paced, collaborative environment
- Must comply with current Tuberculosis Test requirements
- Dress must be according to Riverview dress code
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a healthcare setting
- Experience with Sage Intacct accounting software
- Experience with PointClickCare software
- Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, long-term care insurance or private insurance billing
JOB INFORMATION:
- Full time 40 hours per week
- Work days: Monday Friday 8am-5pm
