Job description

We are a youth basketball organization based in Colorado that specializes in full operation of leagues, tournaments, and assigning officials.

The job is fast-paced, multi-faceted, and challenging. It is perfect for a college student who needs flexibility, because the majority of the tasks need to be completed on a specific timeline, but can be done at any time as long as the timeline is met. The job averages around 20 hours/week, but ebbs and flows as seasons change. Some weeks could be 30-40 as we ramp up for a new season and others could be 5-10 as we just double check logistics weekly. There is opportunity to grow, as spring & summer are our busiest seasons.

Ideally, candidates should

  • have several years of experience playing, managing, or coaching youth sports (basketball highly preferred but not necessary).
  • have experience in aspects of event planning and specifically scheduling, logistics, invoicing, and customer service.
  • be self-directed and able to take initiative and be efficient and productive without constant management.
  • be familiar with sports operations and lingo at all levels (from recreational leagues up to college programs).
  • be able to communicate professionally with various groups of people (clients, coaches, parents, staff, officials, etc.)

As an Administrative Assistant, you will be responsible for the following:

Assistance with all operations and logistics for Hoop Dreams Nation including, but not limited to

  • managing registration
  • tournament/league set-up/development
  • organizing and ensuring resources (gyms, refs, staff)
  • communication between multiple resources
  • replying to the business phone/text line in a timely fashion
  • paying gyms and confirming staff/refs for HDN games

Assistance with all operations and logistics for the Colorado Alliance of Basketball Officials, a subsidiary of Hoop Dreams Nation, including, but not limited to

  • Posting games and coordinating logistics for clients, both weekly, monthly, and seasonally
  • Assist with assigning games
  • Answering and managing the business phone line for both officials and clients
  • Send invoices to clients as needed and ensure payment
  • Confirm all officials for upcoming games weekly
  • Approving games and ensuring that officials are paid accurately based on the position, client, level, and other determining factors
  • On-boarding new officials
  • Organizing and managing systems and structures critical to the operation of the business (communication systems, scheduling systems, etc.)

Assistance with all operations and logistics for the Colorado Basketball Network, a subsidiary of Hoop Dreams Nation with duties to be determined.
