Position Summary:

UAA Admissions is seeking two highly motivated, organized individuals to serve as Admissions Counselors. Ideal candidates will have an affinity for UAA and for higher education. Join a dynamic team of Admissions Professionals to recruit the next class of Seawolves.

Duties:

10Build and actively strengthen positive contacts with school counselors and community representatives. Timely respond in person and in writing to routine admission and enrollment inquiries from prospective students, parents, counselors, faculty and staff. Communicate effectively with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds.Essential
40Design, develop and implement programs to support the University's recruitment plan. Under the direction of Assistant Director of Recruitment create, implement, evaluate and refine data driven recruitment strategy to increase enrollment from assigned territory. Participate in setting enrollment targets to ensure the effective delivery of recruitment programs. Identify, develop and execute short term (1 year) and long term (3-5 year) initiatives. Provide analysis of recruitment data. Create and maintain campaigns and reports. Build relationships that facilitate the recruitment of prospective students and represent the University to a wide and diverse audience to influence the college choice.Essential
50Promote UAA through a wide variety of activities designed to showcase the University. Develop and deliver formal presentations to high school students, college students, community groups and organizations. Maintain comprehensive expertise in university policies, procedures, calendars, deadlines, requirements, services, organizations, and personnel in order to serve as a reliable information resource to the campus community. Meet with prospective students and families regarding admission and enrollment procedures, and academic requirements for 2 year/4 year, full time/part time, and academic/vocational programs. Serve as the primary point of contact for students from territory, assisting them in navigating new student processes from initial inquiry to matriculation at UAA; serve as a secondary point of contact for all other students. Assist Enrollment Services with start of term student traffic. In state and out of state travel, some evening and weekend work is required. (Requires driving). Make travel arrangements and keep detailed expense records. Other projects, duties and/or tasks as assigned by supervisor or Executive Director of Admissions.Essential

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Strong written communication skills as evidenced by application materials.
  • Prior experience with public speaking as evidenced by application materials.
  • Experience with reporting, data entry.
  • Ability to travel in and out of state, and to remote Alaska locations.
  • Ability to work with populations from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Typical Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited university, award prior to start date - UAA preferred.

Applicant must possess an unrestricted Alaska driver's license or be able to obtain an unrestricted Alaska driver's license within 60 days of accepting the job.

Required Education or Training:

Knowledge of academic programs and support services at UAA.
Familiarity with college search or admissions processes.
Professional experience with admissions, related to higher education.
Proven experience exercising initiative, decision making and self-discipline.
Ability to work with diverse student populations, including low-income, first generation, geographic regions, ethnic groups, high school, transfer and non-traditional students.
Experience working in a data-oriented and results driven admission office.
Familiarity with SalesForce CRM or similar CRM software.
Experience with public speaking.



Salary Information:

This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.
