Your Opportunity
COX|McLAIN Environmental Consulting, now Stantec, is currently seeking an Architectural Historian Technician to provide as-needed support on a project basis, assisting with photography, data collection and analysis for a variety of projects.
Our team provides Section 106/NEPA analysis, technical studies, and project permitting for a wide variety of private and federal, state, and local government clients in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and surrounding region.
This on-call position requires the ability to work outdoors in remote locations and for extended periods under all weather conditions, demonstrating awareness for workplace safety; and ability to work independently when conditions are appropriate or with limited supervision.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Perform fieldwork tasks including photographing resources and using mobile tablet for data collection
- May conduct archival research online and at libraries and repositories
- Contribute to inventory forms and technical reports
- Support consultation with state, federal, and local agencies
- Additional duties may include support for local and National Register of Historic Places nominations, preservation plans, historic structure reports, and other types of special projects
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Must be able to work independently as well as part of an interdisciplinary team with other cultural resource and environmental professionals
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be willing to travel to meet project needs
- Requires valid driver’s license and good driving record
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Some graduate coursework in historic preservation or related degree, and/or prior field documentation experience preferred
This position works primarily in a field setting but some office work may occur. Fieldwork may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather, remote locations, summer heat, rough terrain; as well as bending, stooping, carrying field equipment, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.
