The Opportunity

We are looking for someone with a passion for product and growing their career. The Assistant Buyer role is a combination of work from home and in office. Office hours are 3-5 days per month, and we do this to promote community engagement and team building. As well as dedicate time to product focused meetings. This Assistant Buyer will support the Buyer II in managing the Extended Assortment Home Innovations business for HSN.com. In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop your negotiation skills, strengthen your long-term & short-term strategic thinking, and learn how to strategize and plan out a business! EA Home Innovations is a fast-paced office with tons of opportunity to grow and learn. It is a fast-growing department with a lot of white space opportunity, so creative thinking, agility and mastering your prioritizing skills, are key in this role. You will also be responsible for analyzing sales data and making product decisions for some of the categories. This role will prepare you for the Senior Assistant Buyer position, where you will be responsible for your own categories and brands, as well as leading a team. If you are out of state, we do provide move support assistance!

In this role, you will have great exposure to top national brands and be a key contributor in identifying white space for the Home Innovations office. You will also work in partnership with our vendor partners, on-air counterparts, and ecomm team to facilitate a seamless experience for our customer on HSN.com. Remote work is not permitted in NYC at this time.
Your Impact
- Identify, develop, negotiate products, price, and terms, buy, and execute new products, concepts, and ideas that will deliver sales results across our digital platform.
- Develop a sense for merchandising by recognizing product and customer trends with the ability to translate these trends into actual ideas/concepts/products/assortments that will resonate with HSN customers for this category of business.
- Manage daily office operations and administrative work. Educate, communicate, and negotiate with vendors and cross-functional departments. Develop cross functional internal relationships as well as external vendor relationships.
- Lead the office function in the absence of the Buyer or Sr Assistant Buyer. Perform duties according to company policies and procedures with some latitude for independent judgment and initiative.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent business experience in corporate buying.
- 0-2 Years related work experience.
- Ability to make oral and written presentations.
- Ability and confidence to present opinions and thoughts in a clear, unbiased manner.
- Ability to make decisions to achieve desired results.
- Excellent follow through skills with a demonstrated sense of urgency.
- Excellent prioritization skills to determine most timely tasks and how to complete on deadline
- Ability to access and enter information using automated systems (e.g., windows-based computer) quickly and accurately.
- Ability to navigate Excel spreadsheets and internal ECO systems
