Position Summary
The
Assistant Director of Esports will serve as the advisor and head coach for the UNCG Esports Club in addition to managing the daily operations of the brand new 3,300 square-foot UNCG Esports Arena. The Assistant Director will develop and implement all student activity and programming related to the space. The position will also support broader esports initiatives at UNCG, in collaboration with the university’s Esports Executive Committee. This position will work with part-time coaches, students, and campus partners to develop a healthy community of gamers and reinforce our values of equity and inclusion in the gaming community. This position is responsible for directly supervising a part-time graduate assistant, part-time coaches, and 20+ student employees who manage the day-to-day supervision of the Esports Arena. In addition, this position will support the technology needs for the Department of Recreation and Wellness.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency in the technical and operational aspects of collegiate esports and experience coaching.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (some evenings/weekends) and travel as needed.
- Successful record of working collaboratively with colleagues across constituency groups.
- Must possess skills in organization and planning, prioritization, problem-solving, and oral and written communication.
Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- Esports broadcasting and production technology experience.
- Previous experience working with college students in a managerial function that includes supervision, operational or facility oversight, and budget management.
