The Assistant Director is responsible to assist the chief administrator of the District’s student services program and serves in both a leadership and management role. This position is responsible for assisting with planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of programming, instructional, assessment, and student services needs across the district. This includes providing support and/or coordination for school improvement initiatives, curriculum initiatives, technology initiatives, and staff development at both the building-level and district-level. The student services department oversees several programs; such as but not limited to, Special Education, Title I/II/III/IX, High Ability Learning, Problem Solving Teams, English Learners, and Preschool.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Master’s Degree in Administration required; experience in Special Education preferred
  • Valid Nebraska Administrative and Supervisory Certificate with proper endorsements/levels required

Essential Functions


The essential functions of the position include:

  • Support student learning, professional development and District goals
  • Exhibit communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Collaborate with principals for continuous improvement of student programming
  • Support special education service providers with the state student report system (SRS)
  • Assist with development and publication of district curriculum
  • Assist with development and implementation of common district assessments
  • Assist with selection, ordering, and inventory of district curriculum materials as related to student services
  • Demonstrate professionalism at all times
  • Other duties related to student services, curriculum, assessment, data management, instruction, professional development as may be assigned and/or required by administrators

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to lift and pull or push articles up to 50 pounds. He/she sits most of the time but must walk frequently and, at times, stand. The employee is required to reach with his/her hands and continuously to repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times as in typing. Manual and finger dexterity are essential to the job. He/she is constantly working to meet deadlines with severe time restraints. He/she must see and read fine print such as typed or handwritten materials and have good depth perception (fine muscle control). The employee must, also, be able to hear conversation in a noisy environment and to communicate clearly and concisely through speech.
