Ascent Classical Academies is currently seeking school leaders who share a passion for our mission to grow the classical education movement and to play a key role in significant expansion throughout Colorado and the Western states. Join Ascent Classical Academy of 27J as Assistant Headmaster to support the development of the moral character and civic virtue of students in their pursuit of the Good, True, and Beautiful.
The Assistant Headmaster will support the Mission and Vision of Ascent Classical Academy and the ideals of classical, liberal arts education and its value in the development and formation of young people. As a leader in the School, the Assistant Headmaster must have high moral character and embrace the virtues of a free and just society.
The Assistant Headmaster is the authority, in collaboration with the Headmaster, in charge of:
- Student discipline
- Supervision of non-academic programs
- Facilities
- Ancillary staff
- Operations
Student Discipline
- Enforce the School’s policies and procedures for discipline, dress code, and attendance
- Foster strong relationships with students of every age and grade
- Rely on the School’s Core Virtues in discipline
- Seek parental support for School policies
- Ensure that faculty are uniformly and consistently implementing disciplinary procedures
- Have an understanding of a classical classroom and be able to provide feedback to teachers
Supervision of Non-Academic Programs
- Represent the School at various meetings and functions
- Oversee and/or administer standardized testing
- Develop and oversee the club and athletics programs in line with the School’s classical mission, unless otherwise provided for by other staff
Facilities
- Ensure the safety and cleanliness of the facility
- Ensure classrooms are appropriately outfitted for instruction
- Seek out maintenance providers
- Ensure that parents, staff, and students, adhere to the established traffic procedures
Ancillary Staff and Non-Academic Duties
- Assign non-academic duties approved by the headmaster
- Ensure that staff fulfill these duties
- Supervise part-time, non-teaching employees (including health technicians and teacher aides)
- Other functions deemed necessary by circumstances
Desired Start Date: July 1, 2023, with earlier opportunities for training and development
Employment Type: Full-time, Exempt, Year-round
Salary Range: $65,000 to $85,000, highly dependent on qualifications and experience

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree - Master's or higher preferred
- Experience in school leadership and supervisory roles
- Ability to mediate difficult situations
- Experience working with students in sports or other non-academic activities
- Knowledge of business practices
- Strong ability to speak and write clearly
- Thorough understanding of classical pedagogy and philosophy
- Exceptional organizational skills, and experienced management skills
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively articulate information and issues
