The Department of Communication, Media and Theatre at Northeastern Illinois University invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Communication to begin Fall 2023. In particular, we are looking for a candidate with expertise in one or more of the following areas: organizational communication, leadership communication, strategic communication, or business communication.

Successful candidates will be expected to teach introductory Communication courses as well as undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of specialization. Candidates will serve on graduate committees, supervise theses and independent studies, develop new courses and curriculum in an area of specialty, maintain productive research activity, and perform service at the department and university level.

Candidates will be expected to contribute to an urban educational environment that prioritizes diversity, equity, and inclusion as central tenets of its institutional mission. Candidates who can speak to and empower the experiences and voices of marginalized populations are particularly encouraged to apply.

Successful candidates will join a vibrant, interdisciplinary department with a strong commitment to teaching excellence. They will contribute to University efforts to address student enrollment, retention, and success. This includes an overall commitment to teaching at both the upper division and introductory level as well as providing support for requirements such as First Year Experience, University Core Curriculum, and the Writing Intensive Program.
