Position Summary: The Associate Director of Business Development is responsible for identifying and driving Company growth in a highly competitive environment through the acquisition of new business opportunities, grant funding opportunities, and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience building and maintaining client relationships, preparing proposals, negotiating agreements, and working with both public and private sector organizations. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be competitive, highly organized, relationship focused, and entrepreneurial. This role will require travel to the Company’s different markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and engage new prospective business opportunities including strategic partnerships to support revenue growth and regulatory obligations
- Develop and drive approach to serving secondary markets by identifying partnership opportunities in a telecommunications environment
- Develop, coordinate, and execute community engagement strategy, advocating for broadband connectivity in underserved markets
- Establish, build, and maintain strong relationships and partnerships with community leaders, non-for-profit organizations, key corporate departments, and other internal and external stakeholders
- Identify and cultivate opportunities for partnership with broadband infrastructure funding programs
- Communicate with prospective opportunities via calls, video conferencing, and in-person planning sessions to understand goals and define strategic and tactical plans aligned to their needs
- Enhanced the Company’s image through advocacy for broadband connectivity in unserved and underserved communities
- Work with various federal, state, and local government stakeholders to identify and develop opportunities for primary market growth
- Maintain current knowledge of broadband industry, analyze, and understand current legislation
- Direct strategies that promote Company visibility and image, increase public awareness of Company’s commitment to the communities it serves
- Balance collaboration in a team environment with independent motivation and proactive leadership
Requirements and Skills:
- Minimum requirement of a bachelor’s degree in Business Administrator or comparable field, MBA preferred
- 8-10 years’ experience in a telecommunications environment
- Superior, persuasive, written and verbal communication skills in a remote and in-person setting
- High levels of initiative, self-motivation, and energy to work well within team environments
- Proven success cultivating and maintaining positive relationships with external constituencies, including organizations operating in the same industry, community partners, government officials, and quasi-government organizations
- Demonstrated results in developing and implementing successful programs and campaigns
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Power Point, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
- Ability to travel to other markets as required
