Zurich North America is currently looking for an AVP, Data Product Owner to join our Data & Analytics, Engineering team based at our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois. While this position will be based out of our Schaumburg Headquarters, we are offering the flexibility to work both in the office and remotely. You will collaborate with your manager to set a schedule that supports you, our customers, and the team.
The AVP, Data Product Owner serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) to drive data domain capability development and execution in our Enterprise data assets space. The AVP, Data domain product owner will be the key contributor to the execution of broader data roadmap and strategy for the Data & Analytics teams and will support building reusable data assets for a best-in-class data ecosystem.
This role will work on next generation data platform services and processes that support Business Units and Share Service Units and will serve as a data domain product lead between the Business and D&A to understand customer’s objectives, business goals, processes, and products as well as the business systems capabilities to formulate, define, document, and implement data domain scope and objectives to provide solutions.
Additional responsibilities include:
Coordinates and leads activities with business owners to gather detailed requirements- Monitors business decisions and manages data requirements, documentation, and communication
- Leads analysis of requirements to determine the systems’ potential and defines impact to other business units and systems
- Creates process models based on business requirements
- Provides Customers with cost/benefit analysis, risk assessment, scope definition of proposed requirements
- Guides users in building business case and impact analysis
- Manages work plans, timelines, and budgets
- Partners with stakeholders to identify department resources to meet objectives
- Mentors and coaches more junior team members
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics/Statistics and 8 or more years of experience in the Predictive Analytics area
OR- High School Diploma or Equivalent in Mathematics/Statistics and 12 or more years of experience in the Predictive Analytics area
AND - Knowledge of statistical theory, including Generalized Linear Models and their applications in insurance
- SAS programming experience
Preferred Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in Data Analytics, Data Science, Business Intelligence, or other quantitative disciplines, especially during company growth stages, in a cross-functional role
- 3+ years of management experience growing and leading data teams; proven record of building and motivating successful teams.
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT and data wrangling using tools (Informatica, Data Factory, Talend etc.) and languages such as Python, R, Scala, Java, SQL, and SAS
- Understanding of core data concepts (data domain curation, data lake structures, data warehouse models, data marts, business intelligence processes, visualizations etc.)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as a lead
- Prior experience delivering self-service big data and data visualization platform
