Twisted Root Burger Company is a flip flop and baseball cap burger joint where locals know the only thing we take seriously is our food! We are chef owned and operated and we take immense pride in our “run down your arms” good burgers. We never want to feel like a chain so we encourage employees to have a style and personality of their own as long as they do it with a smile. We are looking for restaurant professionals that will take pride in their work, be on time, have fun and treat our customers like friends.

Job Summary:

Bartenders are a critical part of the Twisted Root Burger team. The bartender’s primary function is to greet the guests with a smile and make sure all bar guests receive the best service. This includes making drinks, receiving money from the guest for the purchase of food and beverages, issuing correct change and ensuring the cleanliness of the bar area.

Listed below are SOME of the duties and responsibilities of the position:

• Greet guests in an upbeat, enthusiastic way
• Sell the Twisted Root story, including the founding story and key information about our food and beverage partners
• Interact with guests in a friendly and personable way
• Be responsible for stocking up, readiness and speed of service as these all have a big impact on sales
• Have great knowledge of the Twisted Root drink selection and any specials we may be running. Be able to make drink suggestions
• Know well liquor options as well as premium liquor options so you can upsell drinks and provide the perfect drink for each guest
• Maintain a clean and well-stocked bar area
• Makes shakes according to recipe (at varying locations)
• Takes to-go orders and verifies that they are right before the guest leaves (at varying locations)
• Follow standard pour guidelines and utilize pour testers to practice and maintain free pour skills
• Operate the register accurately and efficiently; understands gift card transactions
• Manage your cash and drawer to ensure you have balanced cash outs each shift
• Thank guest for coming and invite them back to dine with us
• Complete all opening, closing or shift change duties as assigned by the manager on duty
• Perform barback duties as necessary
• Attend all employee meetings
• Promptly report all equipment, food quality problems or product shortages to Manger on Duty
• Perform other related tasks as directed by the Manager On Duty

Qualifications:

• Positive attitude and excellent communication/listening skills with customers and team
• Must be 18 years or older
• Working knowledge of processing payments
• Ability to operate a cash register
• Ability to work under pressure
• Great conversation skills to entertain guests
• Great customer service skills
• Strong ability to multitask
• Reliable transportation
• TABC Certification
• ANSI or Texas Department of State Health Services accredited Food Handler Certification
• High school graduate or equivalent experience
• Must be eligible to work in the United States

Other things to know about this job:

• Twisted Root Burger Company does not permit any employee to consume alcohol at any Brain Storm Shelter Restaurant location, whether on- or off-duty.
• All employees are required to follow all local and state laws regarding the sale and service of alcohol.
• Employees are expected to wash their hands frequently during shifts and after all breaks.
• Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing 25 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion. Position requires working a full shift on your feet.
• All employees must practice good personal hygiene to prevent food borne illness & create a clean working environment.
• Position may require work with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment as well as operations of phones, computers and other office equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $2.15 - $8.00 per hour
