Darling Ingredients is looking for a Blood System Operator / Equipment Operator to join our plant in Lewiston-Woodville, NC. This is a key role that will be responsible for maintaining safe and productive operation of the blood dryer. Operating drying and processing equipment to produce meal products ready for grinding and for further refinement. Maintaining proper cooking temperatures on all assigned equipment.
This position will be scheduled to work six days per week on 3rd shift, 11:00pm – 7:30am.

If you have the following, we want to hear from you:
- Experience controlling operations of equipment or systems.
- Ability to analyze situations and take corrective actions to run efficiently.
- Reading comprehension – understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
- Able to communicate with others effectively.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing effective output.
Essential duties/responsibilities:
- Perform start-up, operation, and shut down procedures for all processing equipment.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized area.
- Monitor systems associated with processing operation such as but not limited to; boiler, condensers, air scrubbers, stabilization, system parameters, temperatures, pressures, motor loads, and steam recording charts.
- Record temperature and steam readings, drying time, etc.
- Listen for malfunction alarms, and shutdown equipment and notify supervisors when necessary.
- Set temperature, pressure, and time controls, and start conveyors, machines, or pumps.
- Turn valves or start pumps to add ingredients or drain products from equipment and transfer products for storage, cooling, or further processing.
Physical Demands:
- Climbing stairs and standing the majority of the shift.
- Handle and move 55 gallon drums.
Working Environment:
- Typical industrial plant environment.
- Must be able to work in a hot and wet environment.
- Must be able to deal with strong odors.
- Must be willing to work all shifts including overtime and weekend work as needed.
