CAD Designer/Drafter and Sales
LOCATION: Beautiful Centre Hall, PA found in the Allegheny region of Pennsylvania. This is not a remote work position.

WHY THIS POSITION IS IMPORTANT TO US:
The CAD Designer creates the momentum that gets the ball rolling. The position requires an individual who can work autonomously through a wide range of tasks requiring significant technical skills and attention to detail. It is an all-encompassing role with a focus on sales, design and planning tasks. Ideal applicants must have a versatile view of projects, taking into account the bigger picture as well as the smallest of details.
WHAT IS THIS POSITION RESPONSIBLE FOR ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS:
The CAD Designer is the first point of contact for our clients, actively working to draw in new clients and responding to inquiries as they come in. After gathering the necessary information and listening to the client’s unique needs, they develop a quote for the client to review and approve. With their exceptional sales skills, they are able to secure the project and move on to the design phase.
Here, they really bring the client’s vision to life by taking the initial drawings and creating a detailed three-dimensional rendering, working with an engineer as needed. The Designers ability to take the rendering and transform it into workable purchase orders and building drawings is critical to ensure our skilled craftsman have all the materials and direction needed to create the design and fulfill the client’s vision.
After completing training, the CAD Designer is expected to perform their work with minimal direct supervision. They must be fully capable of building relationships with both clients and our diverse workforce.
QUALIFIED APPLICANTS REQUIRE:
- Experience working with AutoCAD, HSB CAD or other 2D rendering software programs.
- Experience working with Sketchup or other 3D rendering software programs.
- Ability to learn new software quickly.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to estimate work.
- Some artistic ability and capacity to think and draw 3 dimensionally.
- Experience using database accounting software such as QuickBooks.
- Ability to develop a pipeline of projects and work within complex production schedules.
- Skill to work in a team environment with other professionals.
HELPFUL SKILLS TO HAVE:
- Experience designing Timber Frames
- Knowledge of traditional woodworking techniques
- Diplomatic hands-on style
- Sufficient knowledge of construction details
- Adobe Photoshop and Social Media sales experience
DETAILED JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design beautiful outdoor structures that deliver on clients’ expectations.
- Accurately estimate, quote, and manage multiple projects.
- Communicate with clients to learn their project goals and share the company’s values, processes, and products with them.
- Calculate material requirements and issue purchase orders to vendors.
- Draft detailed technical drawings of timber frames using computer-aided software for client approval and shop production, engaging the assistance of an engineer as needed.
- Work in lockstep with logistics and production teams to ensure specifications, quality control, schedule and customer expectations are met.
- Work with logistics and production teams to estimate final delivery.
- Have the experience, knowledge, and know-how to interpret client input and take a project from inception to installation.
- Create meticulous dimensionally accurate drawings for our craftsmen to work from.
- Ensure company goals and customer objectives are met and project a positive company image.
