NMC is currently recruiting for a Central Monitoring Tech (EKG Tech) in the PCU. This position is a full-time (72 hours bi-weekly) position, hours are 6a-6p, every other weekend.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Central Monitoring Tech maintains the integrity of monitoring in the dual role of patient safety surveillance or cardiac rhythm technician. Serves as an integral member of the patient care team. Provides real time virtual safety surveillance on a patient that has been identified as requiring visual cardiac monitoring per policy and procedure and as supervised by a Registered Nurse. The central monitoring technician will provide continuous monitoring of heart rhythms and dysrhythmia interpretation as per policy and procedure and as supervised by a Registered Nurse.

PREREQUISITES:

Education: High school graduate required. National Telemetry Certification through the National Telemetry Association required. Must demonstrate keyboarding skills and be familiar with computer use. Previous hospital experience preferred. Completion of advanced dysrhythmia course upon hire and successful passing grade on organizational EKG test upon completion of orientation and annually. Effective communication skills. Successful completion of competency-based orientation program. Ability to multi-task with multiple competing priorities.

Other: Passion for Project work, combined with strong process skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication and conceptual-thinking skills. Strong technical writing skills including grammar, spelling, composition and proofreading. Ability to work independently to manage and prioritize project assignments and meet competing deadlines. Knowledge of healthcare, education, regulation, and data analysis practices, reporting tools and visuals.
