Holcomb Behavioral Health Systems is seeking to hire Certified Peer Specialist

Position specifics: Part Time Schedules - (1) Monday 8am-5pm & Tuesday-Friday 8am-12pm; (2) Thursday 3pm-11pm & Sunday 7am-3pm

Location: Exton, PA

Program: Crisis Programs

Role Description: In this role the Certified Peer Specialist will provide direct non crisis supportive counseling to consumers. Services vary by program and include life-skills teaching and assistance; promotion of social and recreational activities through assisting consumers in utilizing natural and community supports; aiding consumers in building peer support networks, assisting consumers in developing empowerment skills through self-advocacy..

The Peer Specialist’s responsibility is to help each consumer reach a maximum level of self-sufficiency through individualized interventions and assistance with implementation of individual Wellness Recovery Action Plan. Peer Specialists staffing the Warm line are office based and provide telephone support to consumers. Peer Specialists working on mobile outreach teams would assist consumers in their location of crisis.

Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide services as defined by the program description, best practice standards and in full compliance with Recovery Model Principles.
  • Provide services as dictated by client and program needs.
  • Develop (with assistance of consumer and/or coordinator) and implement service plans.
  • Develop and maintain linkages with adjunct providers to coordinate consumer services.
  • Identify resources which are accessible and beneficial to clients and encourage their utilization.
  • Advocate for consumers as necessary.
  • Help consumers identify improvements needed in living environment, and assist in making improvements.
  • Support consumers in maintaining healthy relationships and resolving conflicts.
  • Must be compassionate, flexible and knowledgeable of Supportive counseling.
  • Complete appropriate documentation of services/interventions and consumer response to those interventions.
  • Must be willing to assist consumers in development and implementation of Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP).
  • Maintain accurate records and submit records in a timely manner as dictated by the program.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned by direct supervisor.

Minimum Education Required: High School Diploma or GED certificate..
Minimum Experience Required:Current or former recipient of mental health services (any setting) and a willingness to acknowledge this experience to consumers and others as appropriate.

Preferred: Experience with Dual Diagnosis such as Mental Health and Drug Abuse.
Certifications : Peer Specialist Certification
Required Clearances: Pennsylvania Child Abuse clearance (if working in adolescent residential program), Criminal clearance, and Fingerprint based federal criminal history; Valid Driver’s License and Verification that employee is not on any Medicaid/Medicare Exclusion list.

Holcomb offers a generous benefit package to all employees who work a minimum of 30 hours per week. Benefits are available the first day of a new month after completing 30 days of employment. Health insurance, including medical, dental, and vision are included. Paid holidays in addition to earned paid time off, 403(B) with company match, and 1 year salary of life insurance is available as well. Some benefits are available to employees working between 25-29 hours per week.
