Part-time Infant Toddler Teacher - Child Care

Hours: Part-time hours, 25 hours per week schedule.

Paid time off and holiday pay! You will accrue 3 weeks of paid time off during the first year and you are also paid for 12 holidays!

Hours: Part-time hours, 25 hours per week schedule. 13.00 per hour or 13.50 per hour with CDA

Summary: Child care teacher cares for children ages 0 months to 3 years old. Goals of this position will be to break the cycle of vulnerability and repetition for high-risk children and families by supporting children and their caregivers in forming strong, functional and resilient attachments, and support children in secondary attachment to caregivers/teachers; by providing an enriched environment to support all domains of child development; and by supporting parents in their own emotional development and in developing parenting skills in a supportive setting. Reports to the Family Learning Center Child Care Manager.

Duties:

  • Provides childcare services based on an approved curriculum for children 0 to 18 months which includes physical, emotional, social, intellectual and creative development.
  • Coordinates curriculum and classroom needs which include lesson plans and calendar activities for children and disbursement of information to parents which includes child/parent educational programs.
  • Document client records, including accident/incident reports and alerting authorities to any child abuse occurrence of all children monthly.
  • Attends staff meetings, treatment team meetings, required trainings, parent functions, and works cooperatively with staff and parents.
  • Teacher is responsible for assessing the children in their care by using the ASQ3s and ASQ3-SE as prescribed by the tool.
  • Observes, evaluates, and communicates feedback to parents, staff, and management concerning the status of clients.
  • Responsible for maintenance of supplies needed for classrooms and report it to the director monthly.


Physical Abilities: Ability to lift infants and toddlers weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds. Ability to sit on the floor, bend at the waist, kneel and/or stoop 75% of the time.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED, 45 hours training hours.
  • Meets state education and experience requirements for child care licensing and regulation.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent degree preferred but not required.
  • Experience with infant/toddler children in a licensed child care setting.
  • Must be sensitive to the culturally diverse population Champions for Children and the Family Learning Center serves.
  • Must complete a State of Florida level 2 background screening and drug screening.
  • 5 years residency in the state of Florida.
  • Superior verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively.
  • Friendly and caring persona with a true dedication and passion for the well-being of children.
  • Professional, self-directed, follow-through on projects and prompt.
  • Good interpersonal skills, team-oriented, customer service focused enjoys working with others.
