Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs clerical and secretarial duties pertaining to the criminal and civil functions of the Constable"s office. Answers in person inquiries, letters, telephone calls, and takes messages. Maintains files, types correspondence, greets and directs visitors to appropriate locations.
Receives and processes civil / criminal papers from various judges.
Enters required data on all civil/criminal cases using the Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS), which primarily is used for the issuing, serving, and clearing of warrants.
Makes photocopies of warrants and distributes to assigned deputy. Makes folder and files warrants.
Regular attendance and timeliness are required

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITES: Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Required:

Applicant must have a High School Diploma/GED.

SKILLS ~ EXPERIENCE:
Required:

Experience in responsible clerical procedures, organizational skills, computers
Ability to operate standard office equipment
Requires the ability to deal with sometimes-hostile individuals while on the telephone and in person in a pleasant and personable manner
Must have an acceptable personal background and ability to obtain a TLETS certification

Preferred:

Bilingual
2 years of related clerical experience

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Works indoors in well-lighted, air-conditioned office. Continuous contact with the public, and persons accused or convicted of crimes.
PHYSICAL DEMAND REQUIREMENTS: Some light lifting, bending, standing, walking, (between offices and buildings to run errands), and frequent sitting. Works at desk and computer terminal.
HOURS / SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm Disclaimer
