DESCRIPTION:

The clinical psychologist works under the direction of the Director of BH and reports to the department managers. The clinical psychologist will provide traditional psychotherapy in the Health, Behavior, and Wellness Center, will participate as a Health and Wellness Consultant as part of the Integrated Care program providing assessment and brief intervention in the medical clinics as part of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, and will co-facilitate health education groups. Experience in providing clinical services in the Spanish language, as well as a trauma-informed clinical orientation preferred. This position will include travel to other SACHS clinic sites as needed.

Scheudle: 4/10, 4 days week, 10 hours per day.

Location: G Street, San Bernardino, Indio, CA


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES:

  • Ability to use behavioral health intervention as part of an integrated care response to patients with chronic health needs, mental health needs or who may be at risk for mental health related issues. Uses techniques to improve behavioral compliance in those with chronic medical conditions and provide evidence based treatment using whole health approach.
  • Provides therapy to SACHS patients in Primary Care and in the Outpatient setting. May serve as the patient’s primary contact for the primary care team.
  • Responds and initiates care to patients who are in primary care rooms as part of a wholeness approach to health care. Develops and tracks the patient’s progress in the shared care plan.
  • Responds to provider requests for behavioral health interventions in the exam rooms.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions when behavioral health issues arise while medical treatment is being provided. Provides brief interventions and assesses whether additional interventions will be required and may schedule follow up in primary care or make referral to the specialty clinic based on the needs of the client. For those who will benefit from brief interventions the preference is for treatment in the primary care setting.
  • Ability to collaborate, support and function in a teaching organization that builds, coaches and embraces interns and residency programs. Must demonstrate a passion for the team and have the ability to consistently work with rotating doctors, residents and interns, while continuously building a trusting, safe, patient centered workplace.
  • Demonstrate the ability to be culturally sensitive and respect diversity, work effectively and with individuals of different cultures and socioeconomic status; Passion for service.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Education: Doctoral degree (Psy.D. or Ph.D.) in Clinical Psychology from an APA (American Psychological Association) accredited program, and completion of an APA accredited internship.
  • Licensure/Certification: Psychologist license issued by the California Board of Psychology.
  • Experience: Minimum two (2)-three (3) years of clinical experience required, outpatient clinical experience preferred. Multidisciplinary experience within the medical field preferred. Experience providing psychotherapy in Spanish preferred. Trauma-informed clinical orientation and experience preferred. As a requirement of this position you must receive EPIC certification for the module you have been hired into.
    Essential Technical/Motor Skills: The ability to use a computer on a routine basis and complete required documentation. Use of Microsoft word, Excel and internet. As a requirement of this position you must receive EPIC certification for the module you have been hired into.
  • Interpersonal Skills: The ability to communicate positively and effectively with all staff in a multidisciplinary environment. Ability to conduct meetings and present in a public forum.
  • Essential Physical Requirements: Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Infrequent light weight lifting. Ability to promote safety and safety procedures.
  • Essential Mental Abilities: The ability to work well under pressure, think critically, organize and prioritize and problem solve. The ability to follow direction and maintain a calm presence under pressure. Ability to delegate work assignments in a fast paced primary care setting with the BH team
