Job Overview

As an Implementation & Service Specialist, you’ll be responsible for administering COBRA for self-funded employer groups. This candidate is responsible for duties related to servicing clients and relaying information to other internal departments. You will set priorities for various tasks such as reporting, renewals, and special projects, all while, maintaining a positive working relationship with clients and other departments. Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform all aspects of COBRA implementation & administration, including sending COBRA notices & letters, posting payments, processing terminations & new enrollment, updating appropriate system(s), department & brokers, & much more
  • Promptly handle customer telephone calls with professionalism & courtesy
  • Master the COBRA administration system, & use it to update rate changes, build new groups, & more
  • Help with end of month reporting for all COBRA groups, mailing reports, remittance letters & checks to groups
  • Learn & understand Federal regulations pertaining to COBRA administration
  • Establishes excellent working relationships with clients.
  • Prepares reports as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Experience and Education

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook programs & internet browsers
  • Experience in the insurance industry a plus
  • Strong work ethic, with the motivation and discipline to self-manage
  • Knowledge of business correspondence, filing and general office procedures.
  • Knowledge of eligibility, billing, premium collection guidelines for various fully insured products and to effectively communicate these provisions to clients and other departments.
  • Knowledge of the Benefits Connect eligibility, billing, premium and commission files or the ability to learn quickly.
  • Skill in strong interpersonal and written communication.
  • Skill in critical thinking.
  • Ability to strive for accuracy.
  • Ability to accurately compile data and perform detailed work
  • Ability to effectively communicate plan provisions to clients and other departments.
