This is a campus-based position that will work directly with students 19.5 hours a week.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
:
The Title III College Navigator provides direct service and support to incoming and returning students getting started at CCC. Using a case management model this person provides information, tools, and support to students with completing the getting started steps (e.g. placement, orientation, registration, financial aid, etc.) required to enroll at CCC. This person uses all available tools including meetings, phone, email, etc., to connect and build rapport with students. This person supports CCC's Guided Pathways efforts of helping students "get on a path" and "stay on a path" and develops and implements workshops, events, and educational activities to assist students with developing a focused educational plan; creating a clear financial plan; utilizing educational tools like the library, syllabus, and Moodle and connecting with campus resources like advising, placement and career services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
:
Admitted Student Case Management & Follow up (50%)
- Proactively welcome and guide newly admitted and current students via drop-in, appointment, in-person, individual, group, phone or video meetings with completing all aspects of the getting started steps, including completing application and placement materials, career planning; program selection, completing financial aid and scholarship applications; online orientation and placement.
- Use college systems to identify and follow up with identified students using best practices in a case management approach to ensure that each student has an individualized approach that meets their needs with completing their getting started steps and ensuring that students are successfully registered for their first term.
- When meeting with students, take detailed notes, tailor information to the specific student needs and situation, use g and update information via Colleague database, Navigate, and other sources.
- Help students identify their educational and career pathway based on their goals, and provide them with information focusing on CCC's programs, cost of attendance, benefits of starting at a community college, and much more based on their individual needs.
- Utilize various web resources and printed materials to help the student gain the information they need to make their college decision.
- Incorporate parent and other supports into the conversation while maintaining student confidentiality and empowering the student to take the lead.
- Be knowledgeable about and know how to use key student systems, from the student view, like Moodle, Navigate, and the student portal, and orient students with how to download, use, and complete key functions in these systems.
- Help with troubleshooting technology when needed, and act as advocate for student with on-campus resources to resolve issues.
Facilitate Getting Started Information Sessions & Workshops (25%)

GENERAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, other agencies, and the general public.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the classification.
- Participate in college committees when requested.
- Maintain proficiency by attending training and meetings, reading materials, and meeting with others in areas of responsibility, which may require travel.
- Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
- Maintain student confidentiality, data integrity, and comply with all related college, state, and federal standards, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
:
Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years related experience. Knowledge of higher education environment with diverse and underserved populations. Preferred knowledge of FERPA requirements and enrollment and admissions processes and/or advising and career services. Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties as described.
Bilingual English and Spanish.

WORKING CONDITIONS
:
The position requires minimal (20-40%) ability to use dexterity and fine motor skills assemble, build or repair machines or other objects. Frequent (51-80% of the time) use of office equipment.
The position requires minimal (5-20%) physical effort such as lifting, carrying, or movement, etc. Movements required to complete work are not difficult, and only require some degree of agility and hand eye coordination.
The work environment is usually well-protected, with minimal hazards or obstacles (5-20%). There is little or minimal element of personal risk or hazard. Job conditions are usually comfortable, with minimal (5-20%) issues of confinement, temperature change, incident of noise, or interactions of a disagreeable nature, inside/outside work, dirty conditions, exposure to contagious disease, etc. Position may have minimal responsibility for driving.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
:
Supervision of others is not a typical function assigned to this position. May provide training and orientation to newly assigned personnel, and may assign work to student workers.
