Job Responsibilities:
The successful candidate is innovative and dynamic to support internal and external communications and partnerships across the WNY region. This individual should be motivational and supportive with strong communication and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate is a self-starter but will also thrive in a collaborative team environment that includes multiple stakeholder groups. We seek someone who will strive to connect, communicate, and support our internal teams with external partners and resources that will enhance our reputation and district awareness. This is a unique position that will require innovative risk-taking that will ultimately lead to growth. Someone with mentoring experience is also a benefit.
Specific Duties:
1. Responsible for the creation, publication, and distribution of internal and external communications related to Erie 1 BOCES and its administrative and management services.
- Supports the development of a communication plan on both an annual and per-project basis.
- Outline strategies for mainstream communications
- Advise various internal and external BOCES services on communication needs,
- Uses data as evidence for communication planning purposes
- Assist in the internal communications within the division or area
2. Responsible for the development of content and design for the WNYRIC website
3. Work collaboratively with staff to prepare communication materials
- Coordinate and facilitate grant communications
- Support grant writing initiatives
4. Manage and expand social media presence
- Curate content for social media platforms
- Uses data and evidence to identify the target audience, times, and types of media to utilize
5. Works collaboratively with other internal communications staff to maintain cohesive message and branding
- Supports internal communications professional development as needed
6. Act as a liaison between stakeholder partners (higher education, business partners, school communities) and the divisions within Erie 1 BOCES
- Support leadership initiatives
7. Keep up to date and proficient on new communication technologies and tools
Job Qualifications
Minimum Civil Service & Provisional Qualifications:
For Civil Service candidates
Must hold permanent status as a Communication Partnership Coordinator; OR; Must be reachable on current Communication Partnership Coordinator civil service list; OR;
For all others- *Provisional
Must meet minimum qualifications for provisional* appointment as follows:
A. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master’s degree and one (1) year experience working in Public Relations, communications, brand management, website design, or related field,
OR;
B. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years’ experience working in public relations, communications, brand management, website design, or related field,
OR;
C. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).
The successful *provisional candidate is subject to a civil service exam at a later date after hired.
