Community and Program Coordinator (District Executive) Position - apply at: https://northernstarbsa.workbrightats.com/jobs/945850.html You will lead, support and guide adult volunteers in Scouting as the team's point person in a large rural area in western Minnesota including Hutchinson, Willmar, and over to the South Dakota border. Much of your workday will be spent out in the community and meeting with volunteers. There is a work space for you at our Leadership Center in Fort Snelling, though you will primarily work out of your residence which is required to be within 15 miles of District Q. (Borders of District Q can be found at https://www.northernstar.org/connect/districts.) This position will provide you with training and growth opportunities in leadership, volunteer management and community relations.

This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting annual of salary of $45,000. Benefits include major medical, dental, vision, paid life-insurance, salary continuation, long-term disability, and retirement plan with match. The council offers PTO (equivalent of 16 days annually for new hires) and 11 annual holidays. The District Executive position requires flexibility and in turn, your work schedule is flexible. Frequent travel within the assigned territory is required. Must maintain a valid driver's license and motor vehicle insurance.

Primary Responsibilities

• Achieve goals related to growing Scouting in the local communities
• Recruit volunteer leadership for program needs and maintain strong relationships
• Provide support to units through membership recruitment, program development and activities
• Form partnerships with religious, civic, fraternal, educational, and other community organizations
• Provide quality service through timely communication, regular meetings, events, and activities

Essential skills

• Ability to build and empower a team, build relationships, and connect with communities
• Must be willing to learn and grow; must be excited about new challenges
• Must possess effective organizational and communication skills
• Must have time and project management skills, with ability to troubleshoot
• Must be comfortable with public speaking, and able to work effectively with diverse audiences

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent
• Must be age 21 or older unless prohibited by any applicable law
• Experience in Scouting or other youth organization is helpful, though not required
• Solid management, written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills are required
• Must be a team leader and player; build relationships and communicate effectively with others
• Must live within 15 miles of District Q (https://www.northernstar.org/connect/districts)
