POSITION PURPOSE
The Compliance & Quality Specialist’s purpose is to continually evaluate and improve processes at all levels of care and throughout all departments of Banyan for a safe and optimal client experience. The Compliance & Quality Specialist is responsible for Banyan’s initiatives, licensing, acquisitions, and program launch functioning and management. These duties are not all-inclusive.

Bachelor’s in nursing or related field

1. SUPERVISION PROVIDED TO POSITION:
Direct supervision is provided by the Compliance & Quality Managers as needed and indicated by specific tasks and assignments.
2. PERFORMANCE/PROFICIENCY STANDARDS
Performance standards are integrated within the position responsibilities. The principal functions of the position identified shall not be considered as a complete description of the all the work requirements and expectations that may be inherent in the position.
3. REASON FOR JOB RESPONSIBILITY/FUNCTION:
The Compliance & Quality Specialist’s purpose is to coordinate a broad range of activities that sustain ongoing awareness of and compliance with organization wide regulatory compliance requirements, including regulators standards/requirements, including all associated follow up reporting while continually evaluating and improving processes at all levels of care and throughout all departments of Banyan for a safe and optimal client experience. The Compliance & Quality Specialist’s is responsible for regulatory compliance, system improvements, managing projects, licensure renewals, program openings, acquisitions, quality assurance and management. These duties are not all inclusive.
SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION (refer to attachment for detail)
- From initiation to completion, obtain federal/state/city/county and agency facility licenses.
- Edit and write Policies and Procedures for mental health/substance use disorder facilities.
- Liaisons with state and county agencies who oversee the issuance of all levels of care program and facility licenses.
- Prepares all related documentation for the licensing and application processes.
- Monitor, manage, and track license renewals of existing facility licenses.
- Communicate and work with the internal team about specific state requirements to ensure the program is in compliance with federal/state/local regulations.
- Serves as a resource for all agency regulators laws and standards.
- Regularly review of websites and publication for changes in standards/requirements with communication to relevant personnel and departments.
- Participation in webinars/teleconferences/seminars to stay current on regulatory updates and compliance strategies.
- Regularly interprets the relevance of standards/regulations in relation to Banyan’s practices.
- Advises staff on how to develop and implement procedures to achieve and sustain compliance, as well as audits to measure effectiveness of new processes or action plans, including design of audit tools, sampling methods, and collation and display of data for analysis.
- Manages/assists with any compliance database systems, including training, updates, security management, report generation, etc.
- Develops and assists in timeline for survey/audit preparation, including identifying activities and ensure personnel are held accountable for preparation activities.
- Provides ongoing progress reports on all initiatives and projects to direct supervisor.
- Implements The Joint Commission Standards throughout all Banyan’s companies to attain and maintain TJC Accreditation.
- Implementation of State Regulations and Certification requirements.
- Communicate in a professional manner with proper use of telephone etiquette

- Monitors and maintains the development and implementation of the operational quality improvement program in the various behavioral health departments.
- Creation and implementation of the organizational strategic quality plans that achieve high impact and significant improvements in organizational performance in the various behavioral health departments.
- Commitment and ability to abide by standards of professional ethics and maintain confidentiality.
- Maintains acceptable overall attendance.
- Completion of annual evaluations per Joint Commission standards.
- Monitor and evaluate external Data Comparisons in collaboration with data reports
- Create and evaluate annual PI Projects
- Create and revise annual Disaster Plan and conduct Disaster Drills and meetings per regulation.
- Manage Banyan Treatment Center’s Flu Vaccine initiative in collaboration with Nursing staff
- Review/Revision/Creation and Maintenance of P&P as needed and annually
- Oversee and evaluate Satisfaction Surveys annually Staff

- Creation and annual maintenance of Banyan Treatment Center Disaster Plan and Drill assisted by Safety Officer
- Ensure Nursing and Tech staff are maintaining quality checks on all waived testing.
- Participate in Compliance & Quality teams as directed by direct supervisor.
- Perform duties independently, taking a proactive approach to problem situations, seeking supervision on an as needed basis.
- Attends in-services and educational training as necessary and as assigned.
- Seeks out learning experiences and incorporates new knowledge into practice.
- Maintains flexibility and adaptability to expected and unexpected changes in the work environment.
- Reports personal symptoms of suspected illness or contagious diseases to supervisor.
- Evaluates and tracks incidents, accidents, and occurrences in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Evaluates safety of the physical environment.
- Performs all other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
- Conducts audits, mock evaluations, and other quality department monitoring work.
- Complies with all applicable training requirements
- Complies with all company safety, personnel and operational policies and procedures
- Complies with work schedule to ensure effective operation of agency programs
- Contributes positively as a member of a productive and cooperative team
- Monitor program staff compliance with behavioral health policy and procedure
- Conduct chart audits, as needed, to monitor quality of care for behavioral health
- Work collaboratively with behavioral health team members to meet program outcomes
- Implement tools and practices that ensure seamless integration of primary and behavioral health care
- Develop and maintain up-to-date databases to track program outcomes
- Track compliance with outcome measures outlined in program contracts
- Completes all tasks according to the supervisors request
