General description
We are looking for an experienced Software Automation Engineer to join our Quality Engineering Team in the Information Technology, Application Services division. As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for writing our test plans, test cases and automating manual test scripts, and testing our applications. This position is with a team of people who are open-minded, adaptable, creative, strong analytical and communication skills and dedicated to ensuring all our applications are defect free. You will be a good fit for the role if you are self- motivated, resourceful and can work well with a team.

Work Hours
Work hours are 8:00AM to 5:00PM, 40-hour week, Monday – Friday. Occasionally work overtime and/or additional hours. Hours may change based on business need. Application support activities periodically require on-call responsibilities or work during non-standard hours.

Teleworking may be considered if certain working conditions are met. The candidate must have permanent residency within the state of Texas and must be able to meet in office requirements, which can vary among different sections (i.e., report to office 1-3 days/month, 1-3 days/week, etc.). Travel reimbursements are not provided for teleworking.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 4 years of using automation/manual software testing tools, test planning, test scenario creation and cataloging, test documentation, and executing tests.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer or Management Information Financial Systems.
  • At least four (4) years of experience as an automation/manual software quality assurance tester in testing complex web applications.
  • Experience in the public sector
  • Experience working in agile development environments.
  • Experience preforming QA functions in medium to large applications development projects and initiatives
  • Preferred experience with the following:
o Jira
o Xray
o Any Programming language
o Confluence
o Selenium, Katalon or UFT or other functional automation tool
o Any other test management tool

Substitutions
1 additional year of the full-time minimum experience as stated above may substitute for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education with a maximum of 120 semester hours (4 years).

In this role you will:
  • Develops Manual and Test Scripts for Automation.
  • Creates and execute regression test scripts.
  • Performs through testing of the applications to ensure all requirements are made.
  • Reviews and analyzes business requirements, epics, user stories and other requests to plan and document the appropriate tests for required and proposed changes to integrated system applications, databases and environments.
  • Performs API and Database Testing.
  • Reports and manages test defects using Jira and Xray or any of the other tools mentioned
  • Coordinates testing activities with various teams
  • Creates test documentation using the appropriate test management tools such as Xray, Jira, Confluence
  • Supports multiple Scrum delivery teams with estimation, for testing software applications.
  • Documents test strategy and creates detailed test plans, test cases, test scripts and quality test data to ensure all software developed meet the defined requirements prior to the production release
  • Communicates regularly with the Project manager, technical lead, dev team members, customers and manager about testing tasks and results to understand project needs and define corrective action as needed
  • Performs other related work as assigned.
