POSITION: Conversion Worker

REPORTS TO: Operations Manager/Supervisor
FLSA STATUS: Part-Time Hourly/Non-Exempt
Summary
ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Conversion Worker for ASM Global/Anchorage Convention Centers.
This is a semi-skilled, part-time position responsible for the room setups, tear downs, and cleaning of the Anchorage Convention Centers meeting rooms and public areas. A conversion worker is expected to be able to work without close supervision and to work irregular hours including day or night shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Sets-up meeting rooms and lobbies in accordance with the function orders; using stage, chairs, tables, dance floor, etc. Tears down meeting rooms and clean each room after events. Put unused furniture in proper storage rooms and ensures storage rooms are clean and orderly. Assists with garbage collection as needed. Cleans the loading dock daily, after the trash has been picked up. Empties trash receptacles, sweeps and mops-up spills on floors and carpets. Remove snow from sidewalks around buildings, canopy covering sidewalk as needed. Apply and ice melt or sand when required. Other duties as assigned, i.e., cleaning restrooms and lobby areas. Qualifications
Knowledge of tools, supplies, and methods used in converting meeting rooms
Ability to perform heavy and physically demanding work
Ability to communicate orally and/or in writing
Ability to understand and complete verbal and/or written instruction
Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision
Ability to work in cooperation with others
High school diploma desirable
Education and/or Experience

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility; to stand for long hours during events; talk and hear. This position may require work inside or outside of Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which will include weekends and holidays. Work hours may range from very early morning to late night. On rare occasion, must be able to work additional hours, weekends, overnight or extended stays, as business demands, with prior notice. Work is primarily indoors. Some outdoor work (such as snow removal and building maintenance) may be required. Environments may range from very warm to freezing. Work will be performed in many different areas of the Center and off-premises. Work will involve a considerable amount of walking throughout a 100,000 square foot facility, lifting, kneeling, and other high-exertion activities. Potentially dangerous chemicals and equipment will be encountered daily during work. May require frequently lifting/moving materials weighing up to 25-100 lbs. Must be able to push, pull carts laden with chairs and /or tables that could possibly exceed 100lbs. Must be able to work in a crowded, high-activity, high-demand environment. Flexibility is required, as to the ability to meet all requests upon demand. Duties require the use of considerable initiative, creativity, judgment, problem-solving, and working under minimal direction. Requires attention to detail, logical reasoning, ability to formulate ideas and opinions, ability to handle multiple priorities, ability to anticipate needs of the company, ability to implement short- and long-term solutions to needs, ability to plan and implement projects, ability to resolve customer service issues. Requires working under deadlines or pressure, dealing with difficult people or situations involving complex issues, and establishing and maintaining cooperative and productive work relationships. Must have outgoing, positive attitude in dealing with clientele and employees. The building, as needed by events.
