GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to develop, field, and manage the execution of both face-to-face and online academic support programs and services provided by the AST including tutoring, supplemental instruction, peer mentorship, essay/writing and math skills assistance, and support for all MCC programs and initiatives, including students in dual credit and Adult Education and Learning programs. Create and field academic and college readiness training and test taking preparation workshops for students. Ensure continued outreach to students, faculty and campus departments to meet campus academic service needs. This position receives general direction from the Director, Center for Teaching and Learning and exercises supervision of professional and support staff. NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Knowledge of: 1. MCC policies, procedures, and culture. 2. Academic Support, tutoring, and supplemental instruction programs. 3. Curriculum and curriculum development. 4. Evaluation and assessment. 5. Computer-aided instruction & self-paced tutorials. 6. Developmental education and integrated reading and writing. 7. Support for face-to-face and online learners. 8. Budget preparation and management. Skills in: 9. Familiarity with MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite, Word Processing, Recordkeeping, Reporting Practices, Video Recording and Conferencing, Internet Browser, and Learning Management Systems. 10. Familiarity with test taking skills and instructional assessment instruments. 11. Working with student groups. 12. Working with faculty. 13. Familiarity with supervising staff and student workers. Ability to: 14. Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team to achieve challenging objectives. 15. Communicate well with others both verbally and in writing (virtually and digitally). 16. Organize and maintain short and long-term schedules. 17. Work with multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. 18. Model supervision strategies for supervisors of staff and student workers.

WORKING CONDITIONS: *
Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. (A minimum of 12 college credits plus relevant work experience may be substituted for required degree)
Experience: More than one year of professional work
