General Description:
To support the mission, values, and strategic direction of NOVA’s Enrollment Management and Student Success to support the expansion of the Financial Stability and Advocacy Program and to manage Financial Stability and Advocacy services.
Duties and Tasks:
To support the mission, values, and strategic direction of NOVA’s Enrollment Management and Student Success to support the expansion of the Financial Stability and Advocacy Program and to manage Financial Stability and Advocacy services.
Duties and Tasks:
- The Coordinator will lead the day-to-day operations of the Financial Stability and Advocacy program.
- This will include benefits counseling and case management, outreach and network development and management, and programmatic and organizational management.
- The Coordinator will connect students to much needed supports and resources as well as advocate if the student faces challenges.
- The role will include outreach activities to assist with food insecurities, health and wellness, housing, childcare, and economic stability.
- Coordinator serves as primary contact for referral partners across college, and resource/support agencies that could be of value to the students.
- A key component of outreach activities will be to cross-train others across the college on the Single Stop model and approach to working with students in need.
- The Coordinator will be a key resource in ensuring successful operations and integration of the Financial Stability and Advocacy services into the college.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Financial Stability and Advocacy program through a combination of direct service and coordination.
- Reports to NOVA’s Financial Stability and Advocacy program Director and Associate Vice President, Student Support Services and works closely with partnering service providers.
- Assists with the coordination and integration of partnering campus and community service providers into a holistic service offering.
- Conducts outreach to affiliate programs and manages the relationships with key personnel at these offices, including development and delivery of training and referral processes for efficiency.
- Conducts and supervises intake and assessment for Single Stop students, and coordinates flow of participants into Single Stop and facilitates referrals to partnering service providers.
- Oversees and ensures that the proper documentation of all student data including client contact, referrals, and outcomes is entered into Single Stop’s case management database in an accurate and timely manner.
- Oversees and monitors scheduling of student appointments with legal and financial counselors, and tax preparation (as applicable).
- Provides consistent feedback for Single Stop as directed by Single Stop.
- Ensures the office is up to date on student trends/needs and assists in program research and relationship building to ensure the office is fully capable of responding to student needs as they arise.
Minimum Qualifications
Required KSAs:
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication
- Comfortable speaking in front of people and delivering presentations
- Resourcefulness in identifying support services for students
- The ability to form strong partnerships with a range of organizations/supports, including legal, financial and tax service providers as well as resource partners on campus and across the community (i.e. Housing)
- Proven demonstration to diversity, social justice and inclusivity
- Excellent time management, organizational and computer software skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in social work, education, or related field; OR a combination of education, training, and experience.
- Hands on training in social work and/or counseling
- Significant experience in direct delivery of student and/or social services
- Significant experience with public benefits, and commitment to working with low-income families and individuals
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- A strong network of relationships with the service provider community.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Experience working with large student population strongly preferred.
- Experience and a level of comfort delivering training material is preferred.
