Coordinator
OR Scheduling
OR Scheduling is a critical department that works to optimize scheduling for tens of thousands of surgical cases each year. The team is responsible for scheduling 40 ORs and 5 Special Procedure Units. OR Scheduling works closely with physicians and physician office staff to make sure the ORs are optimally utilized, ensuring that patients who need surgical care have access to HSS. The Coordinator of OR Scheduling will fill an essential role in this department.
As an integral member of our OR scheduling team, you will be responsible for scheduling all elective surgeries in advance for Perioperative Service as well as entering and maintaining information in scheduling module of the operating room information system. You will finalize the schedule, manage the open OR Time, and coordinate the scheduling process between the OR scheduling office and the surgeon's office. You will also be responsible for distributing O.R. schedules to areas as required and ensuring confidentiality of data. You will Act in accordance with the protocols established and goals of the Nursing Division.
To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree with a minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience. Previous Hospital Scheduling experience is highly desirable. The successful candidate must have excellent communication and computer skills with attention to detail. Knowledge of medical terminology is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) required
