Job Description

Lilac Solutions is looking for its first Cost/Managerial Accountant to join our team. This role will be integral to building out the Company's manufacturing division and managing capital spend for construction type projects. The Cost/Managerial Accountant will report to our General Accounting Manager and work closely with our operations and manufacturing teams to bring an organized and analytical approach to Lilac's operational environment. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and have solid cost and managerial accounting experience and the requisite analytical skills to develop, plan and implement product costing methodologies. This candidate will also have experience in external financial reporting. In addition, they will also have a passion for creating and streamlining processes, implementing controls, and have experience in working cross-functionally with all levels of management.

Location: This position can be fully remote, or hybrid in Oakland, CA

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain the cost accounting system and cost ledgers for all manufacturing processes and capital projects in the ERP system.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure all costs are properly accounted for.
• Help oversee and manage the Company's end-to-end manufacturing.
• Prepare analyses of materials and production costs, project costs (including capital project cost tracking and government grant cost tracking), standard cost variances, and inventory valuations.
• Prepare month-end journal entries and inventory reconciliations, ensure capital accruals are appropriately accounted for.
• Assist the Accounting Manager at the month-end to ensure all inventory and cost of goods sold are properly accounted for (when applicable) and intercompany balances are appropriately eliminated.
• Assist the Company with the annual audit and various month-end close and ad-hoc tasks as needed.

Candidate Qualifications

• B.S. in Finance/Accounting or equivalent
• Minimum 2-5 years in process or cost manufacturing
• Basic understanding of US GAAP and technical accounting
• Experience in month-end processes and assist with the coordination of cross departmental information flow with all levels of management
• Excellent communication (verbal/written), organizational skills, and detailed oriented
• Flexibility and willingness to assist with assorted tasks as they arise
• Experience with business software, such as NetSuite, and the ability to learn new software applications
• Proficient with MS Office including Excel and Word

Preferred Skills

• Experience implementing an integrated resource planning (ERP) system
• CPA/CMA/MBA
• Experience working with external audit firms
• Experience working for a vertically integrated company
• Experience working in mining and metals, specialty chemicals, and/or oil and gas industry

• Salary range: $100K-$120K annually
