Full Title Code Pay Range: $18.90-23.97/hr. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University.
Days/Hours: Monday-Friday/8am-5pm
Job End Date: 12/31/21, unless extended

Brief Summary of Job Duties
The COVID Clinic Assistant (SX) may work at a variety of temporary testing and vaccine sites set up at STHL and across campus and in Isla Vista. Primary duties include the following routine tasks associated with COVID-19 testing and vaccinations:
- As a Specimen Collector (SC) is responsible to perform a basic COVID-19 test on each client according to testing protocol. Works collaboratively with the administrative and lab team to collect and distribute the specimen for analysis. Follows all infectious disease safety protocols for interacting with the public and fellow workers.
- As a Verifying Agent (VA) is responsible to guide clients in the self-application of specimen collection for COVID-19 testing. Works collaboratively with the administrative and lab team to collect and distribute the specimen for analysis. Follows all infectious disease safety protocols for interacting with the public and fellow workers.
- On a less frequent basis, performs the following duties: disinfecting a variety of surfaces; restocking cleaning supplies; disinfecting and setting up testing and vaccine stations in between clients; clinic reception duties, including answering calls, greeting clients in person, scheduling and verifying appointments, distributing testing, vaccine and/or safety information, collecting required information and consent from each client (including demographics), scanning and uploading client data into PnC system, and preparing and printing the specimen collection labels for the Specimen Collectors and/or Verifying Agents; answering basic questions about appointments, the testing and vaccine clinic, operations and testing/vaccination procedures. May also perform other duties in support of operating the testing/vaccination sites and/or setting up and breaking down the testing/vaccination sites.
Note: Temporary, full-time (100%) limited appointment positions immediately available through at least 12/31/21.

Special Conditions of Employment
- Satisfactory conviction history background check.
- Must wear full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times, including N-95 face mask, impervious gown, face shield, and gloves.

Job Functions/Percentage of Time/Duties
Specimen Collection/Verification (55%)
The Specimen Collector/Verifying Agent performs the following routine tasks associated with COVID-19 testing:
As a Specimen Collector (SC), is responsible to receive specimen collection bag from the Receptionist, guide client to testing station, orient the client to the procedure and other instructions required to obtain a specimen (such as removing mask or other obstructive items), collect the specimen according to the testing protocol, place sample into testing tube, wipe tube with alcohol and place in cooler. The SC then instructs the client to replace their face mask, sanitize their hands and leave the testing area. The SC then disposes of gloves, performs hand hygiene, puts on new gloves and returns to the admin table to receive next client.
As a Verifying Agent (VA), is responsible to receive the specimen collection bag from the Receptionist, guide the client to the testing station, place the tube in tube holder, instruct client to remove their mask or other obstructive items, to sanitize their hands, and to look at the collection method sheet and instruct them on how to collect a specimen. The VA opens the swab and tongue depressor (if needed) for the client to use, observes the client collecting the sample, guides the client to snap off the excess swab length and has them place the swab into the tube and cap the tube. The VA then wipes the tube with alcohol and places it in the cooler. VA instructs the client to replace their mask, sanitize their hands and leave the testing area. VA then disposes of gloves, performs hand hygiene, puts on new gloves and returns to the admin table to receive next client.
Line Control/Greeter/Disinfection (30%)
Maintains order with the line of clients waiting to be tested and/or vaccinated. Provides masks to any clients appearing without a mask. Verifies that each client has an appointment. Controls the line by ensuring that all clients maintain a safe 6 foot distance from one another.
Disinfects a variety of surfaces, such as tables, chairs, plexi-glass dividers, mirrors, equipment, etc. on a regular and frequent basis. Disinfects and sets up testing and vaccine stations in between each client.
Reception and Customer Service (15%)
Provide front desk reception and customer service to all incoming clients seeking to obtain a COVID-19 test and/or vaccine. Administrative duties include answering calls, greeting clients in person, scheduling and verifying appointments, distributing testing, vaccine and/or safety information, collecting required information and consent from each client (including demographics), scanning and uploading client data into PnC system, and preparing and printing the specimen collection labels for the Specimen Collectors and/or Verifying Agents. May also assist in the sharing of test results with clients and answering basic questions about appointments, the testing/vaccination clinic, operations and testing/vaccination procedures, and testing results.
Vaccinations Programs – Including SARS-COV-2 (COVID-19)
As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California Policy on Vaccinations Programs – With Interim Amendments. As a condition of Physical Presence at a Location or in a University Program, all Covered Individuals must participate in any applicable Vaccination Program by providing proof that they are Up-to-Date with any required Vaccines or submitting a request for Exception in a Mandate Program or properly declining vaccination in an Opt-Out Program no later than the Compliance Date (Capitalized terms in this paragraph are defined in the policy.). Federal, state, or local public health directives may impose additional requirements.
