Job description
The Community Rehabilitation Clinic (CRC) is seeking a part-time (20 hrs/wk) Physical Therapy Assistant. The CRC is the Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions Foundation’s pro bono
physical therapy clinic, serving the uninsured and underinsured citizens of Utah County. Licensed practitioners and doctoral and pre-PT students (from Rocky Mountain
University, Brigham Young University, and Utah Valley University) work together to provide a full breadth of physical therapy services, including orthopedic, persistent/chronic pain,
neurologic, multiple sclerosis, electrodiagnostic, and pelvic floor therapy services.
POSITION PURPOSE
To assist CRC physical therapists with the rehabilitation treatments of patients in a clinical setting. Physical Therapist Assistants
trained and a graduate of an accredited post graduate educational institution and licensed as a certified Physical Therapist Assistant.
Physical Therapy Assistants may also provide assistance for clinic maintenance and sanitation, and office duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Post-graduate certificate or degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant and licensed as such by the State of Utah.
2. Prior experience in a physical therapy clinic setting is preferred but not required.
3. Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
4. Professionalism in interactions with patients and clinicians.
5. Proficiency with computers, Google platform (Gmail, calendar, docs, sheets, forms, etc).
6. All staff will maintain a current CPR and First Aid certification.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Serve as a .5 FTE Physical Therapy Assistant providing therapy care to patients in the Community Rehabilitation Clinic (CRC)
under the supervision of the Clinic Director or supervising physical therapist.
2. Work a minimum of 20 hours per week or as otherwise arranged with the Clinic Director.
3. Participate as a mentor/supervisor of student volunteers from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions,
Brigham Young University, and Utah Valley University.
4. Provide direct patient care services under the direction and supervision of a Physical Therapist
5. Responsible for documenting patient treatments, changes in condition, and other pertinent information as required.
6. Implement selected components of care and interventions in a technically competent manner.
7. Transport patients to and from treatment areas, lifting and transferring them according to positioning requirements.
8. Instruct, counsel, motivate, safeguard, and assist patients as they practice exercises and functional activities.
9. Exhibit compassion, caring, and empathy to individual differences.
10. Recommend options, courses of action or modifications in selected treatments ensuring patient’s progress, safety and comfort.
11. Apply the latest research related to restoring function, reducing symptoms frequency, and preventing injury.
12. Instruct patients on physical therapy interventions, modalities, and home exercise programs.
13. Complete documentation to support the delivery of physical therapy services.
14. Observe a patient issues, and accurately report observations to the supervising physical therapist.

COMPENSATION
The pay range is $28-$32/hour DOE. This is an independent contractor position and requires the applicant to fill out an IRS W-9. Pay is monthly on or close to the 1st day of the month.
