Credentialing Assistant, Full Time, Days
Job description
Under the direction of the Manager of the Medical Staff Office, coordinates the multiple interlocking facets of medical staff activities, including but not limited to providing essential verification and quality control functions in support of organization in the credentialing of medical staff.
Essential Job Functions
- Process medical staff applications for appointment and reappointment while assuring regulatory compliance as well as compliance with medical staff bylaws.
- Ensure applications are processed and reviewed in a timely fashion. This includes verifying and analyzing the accuracy and completeness of the application and proof of current licensure, malpractice insurance coverage, etc.
- Verify and evaluate past clinical training, present and past hospital medical staff affiliations and clinical privileges.

Coordinate, support and attend medical staff department and committee meetings as assigned.

Compose minutes in prescribed format and assure timely follow up correspondence. -
Initiate, complete and document all follow up work as indicated by department/committee action.
Works closely with risk management and quality improvement to integrate Medical Staff quality assurance and peer review findings with the reappointment review process.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge of medical staff administration and credentialing principles.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Initiative, experience in decision-making, detail oriented and independent work habits.

Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the medical and ancillary staff.
- CPCS or CPMSM preferred.
