Position Summary: To provide guidance and coordination in the development and implementation of the cultural component of the Title VI & JOM Indian Education programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or 48+ college credit hours, preferred Native American Studies degree or minor.
  • Knowledge of Native American culture, customs, and traditions.
  • Experience in presenting cultural demonstrations to large groups of people, including adults and children
  • Experience working with K-12 students
  • Experience in creating cultural curriculum
  • Experience in developing Native American events, cultural resources information, and/or cultural displays/exhibits/collections.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in appropriate circumstances.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The following duties are representative of performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions.

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee all cultural events for students participating in the Johnson O’Malley program
  • Assess, redesign, and evaluate existing cultural programs and events sponsored by Native American Student Services.
  • Develop new and appropriate cultural activities, events & programs for students participating in the Johnson O’Malley program
  • Procure cultural supplies, monitors and maintains inventory, and distributes cultural supplies to Indian Education staff as needed.
  • Provides instruction and information on Native American cultural crafts for Indian Education staff and others as needed
  • Develops cultural workshops for parents of program-enrolled students to increase parent participation
  • Attends staff meetings and participates in all professional development activities to maintain and improve professional competence
  • Attends Parent Education Committee meetings as requested
  • Serves as a role model for Native American students.
  • Provides assistance to the Administrator as requested.

Working Conditions: Exposure to the following situations may range from rare to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable.

Describe the working conditions for this role. For example:

  • Regular Office environment, including frequent use of electronic email, being able to sit for long periods of time without a break, etc.
  • Normal effort of occasional periods of moderate physical activity
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends on planned events.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35,568.00 - $47,300.00 per year
