Our Mission

We exist to power better care.
We are on a mission to power better care by optimizing every patient journey. We help payers, providers, and life sciences companies deliver better care, therapies, and outcomes by delivering the most actionable patient journey insights and value-based payments platform. With Clarify, healthcare organizations benefit from big data efficiencies and self-service, on-demand enterprise insights that light the path to higher-value care.

We came together to empower physicians and care teams to deliver great care. We are a purpose-driven team bringing our vision of better care to life.

Clarify is looking for a Data Science Engineer to focus on engineering innovation, analytics delivery, and software development. The Data Science Group at Clarify collaborates with product teams, platform engineers, and healthcare domain experts to design and deploy thousands of diagnostic and predictive analytical benchmarks derived from National healthcare claims datasets representing 300M+ unique individuals. As a Data Science Engineer, you will collaborate with Data Science and Data Science Engineering teammates to harden infrastructure, deliver modeling results, and build next generation data modeling capabilities.

The Role:

    • Designing sustainable software architectures and communicating patterns and benchmarks
    • Developing and deploying statistical and machine learning models on a growing database of longitudinal health information
    • Introducing new technologies and solutions to our data engineering processes that will facilitate machine learning at a higher scale
    • Collaborating with our product management, engineering, clinical transformation, and sales teams to provide a data-driven perspective on business problems
    • Participating in data team workshops by translating business problems and sometimes complex statistical approaches into actions, balancing creativity with engineering practicality
    • Communicating ideas and findings in compelling ways to peers and leadership

What we are looking for:

    • 5+ years direct data science experience
    • Demonstrated experience in applying machine learning and authoring production-level code in an industry setting, preferably with applications in the healthcare field (such as bioinformatics, biostatistics, epidemiology, economics, genomics, or public health)
    • Self-sufficiency to query relational databases, research new features, and build resources necessary where they do not already exist
    • Resourcefulness in a variety of machine learning packages in R or Python, with a keen knowledge of optimal selections with respect to predictive performance, computation time, and model interpretability
    • Familiarity with generalized linear models and healthcare-related statistical methods such as hierarchical/mixed-effects modeling, regularization, survival analysis, and propensity score matching
    • Practicality and systematic problem-solving skills necessary to find elegant solutions to complex problems
    • An ownership mindset and desire to be the technical expert in the room
    • PhD in a technical discipline preferred
    • Experience with the following technologies preferred: SQL, Python, Cloud/managed services, Spark, Bash/Unix, Git

What we offer you:

    • Competitive compensation ($140k - $160k base + bonus + equity)
    • Quality health insurance
    • Traditional 401K plan
    • Vision, dental, disability and life insurance
    • Flexible Spending Accounts and Commuter Benefits
    • Generous PTO
    • Flexibility
    • Monthly wellness stipend
    • Remote friendly
    • A collaborative workplace, which will challenge you and celebrate your work
    • A chance to learn with and from interesting and enthusiastic colleagues
Don’t meet every single requirement? At Clarify we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles!

We believe that a happy, diverse, and impact-driven team is critical to our mission of transforming healthcare. Having a diverse team allows us to bring more ideas to the table when working on lighting the path to higher-value care. We embrace employees and applicants of all backgrounds, including those of traditionally underrepresented groups. With this in mind, we do not discriminate against any employee or applicant because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, the basis of disability,
