Description & Requirements

Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP seeks a Database Engineer with the primary responsibility of managing the database infrastructure, primarily SQL, for multiple business critical applications in use across the Firm.


Responsibilities


  • Implement and maintain SQL Database Environments for Firm critical application systems
  • Implement best practices and perform troubleshooting for SQL database environments
  • Implement Microsoft Azure based SQL deployments where appropriate for cloud based applications
  • Keep database servers maintained, patched, and up to data with the latest stable releases of Microsoft SQL or applicable database engine
  • Write and execute SQL database queries to produce reports and manipulate data
  • Write and execute scripts in PowerShell to manipulate data and perform complex administrative functions
  • Monitor database health and ensure the continued functionality and performance of business-critical applications
  • Work with the Firm's Information Security department for vulnerability scanning, patching and mitigation requirements
  • Perform debugging where necessary to resolve conflicts and improve performance for database driven applications
  • Identify courses of action and recommendations for updating legacy systems to more modern capabilities
  • Utilize IT Project Management for all assigned projects
  • Provide regular reports on projects and routine support
Requirements

The candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant technology field. Bachelor’s degrees in non-technical fields are acceptable as long as technical certifications and technical experience support the technological requirements of this position.

  • 10+ years of experience in the information technology or software industry, interacting with clients
  • Experience with cloud and Microsoft Azure based technologies, Microsoft SQL server, SQL Reporting Services, Microsoft PowerApps, and PowerBI
  • Windows Server Admin
  • PowerShell scripting
  • SQL DBA with T-SQL Programming
  • CompTIA SecurityProactive problem solver with excellent negotiation skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and able to manage multiple simultaneous projects
  • Strong written, verbal and non-verbal communications
  • Must be able to convey complex technical information in non-technical and understandable manner
