What does our NAC/HCA do?
Provides residents, families, and team members with exceptional customer service always. Embraces EGC’s mission and core values, demonstrating them regularly.
Communicates in a respectful, professional, and team-oriented fashion always.
Assists residents with personal needs as stated in the negotiated service plan and detailed in the floor sheet, including but not limited to: Dressing, grooming, bathing, toileting/incontinence care, bed changing/making, laundry, transferring, activities reminders and meal escorts. May assist residents with stocking apartments with necessary house supplies such as linens, toilet paper, etc.
Helps residents with medication assistance by reminding, coaching, and ensuring resident takes medication. Documents and reports to nurse if the resident declines.
Assists residents in maintaining a safe living environment by keeping walkways and paths clear between bed and bathroom, by cuing residents and/or assisting residents with picking up items off of the floor.
Observes residents for changes in behavior and habits and reports changes to appropriate staff member for additional assessment and follow-up.
Takes and records monthly vital signs as assigned. As needed, takes blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight, and performs appropriate follow-up.
Does required documentation legibly and accurately by hand.
Participates in orientation of both new residents and new employees.
Responds to emergency situations, including the completion of required incident reports.
Attends and participates in daily report, staff meeting, service plan meetings, and staff training.
Serves resident meals. Completes the meal monitor and accounts for each resident during each meal service. Assists with dining set up and clean up.
Works as a member of the Assisted Living staff team, including active development of good working relationships, use of effective communication, and helping others with their work duties as needed.
Establishes and maintains positive relationships and communication with residents, families, and co-workers.
Practices and supports a resident-centered social model of care in all work and interactions.
Follows all Evergreen Court policies and procedures.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school graduate or GED required.
2. Experience with older adults or desire to serve older adults in a caregiving role. Community-based experience preferred.
3. Required skills and interpersonal traits:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in the English language.
- Customer service emphasis and skills.
- Highly motivated, organized and disciplined to work without direct supervision.
- Able to make independent judgment decisions.
Able to use paging systems in the course of day-to-day work.
Required: Must be a CNA or NAC or HCA or “Grandfathered” in per state assisted living regulations.
Work Environment: Enjoy working with older adults and be willing to work in a fast-paced environment
Superb Communication: Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
Team-work: Willing to work cooperatively as a member of the kitchen/dining staff team and be able to respond to verbal instructions and directions
Customer Service: Be patient, pleasant, and understanding in relating to the residents and staff
