JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Directors of Communication, the Digital Broadcast Specialist provides technical broadcasting support at the assigned location(s). Various 40 hour work schedules, based on projects including nights and weekend work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
? Provides outstanding customer support.
? Provides installation, training, configuration, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of District supported school broadcasting technology software and hardware, and other broadcast-related applications.
? Assists in professional development training for TV production students and teachers
? Provides technical and production assistance in the broadcast of district and school academics, arts, and athletics events.
? Demonstrates techniques in editing copy, on-air presentation, interviewing procedures, preparation of copy, and operation of television recording equipment to students;
? Supervises student production crew, creative process, equipment set-up, lighting, recording, and breakdown of equipment
? Assist in the after-hours broadcast of events around the district.
? During times of state or district emergency, all employees may be required to perform additional duties that are not required on a normal basis in support of educational and operational priorities. e.g. Performs general cleaning and sanitizing of work areas, provide remote assistance to students and staff, and any other reasonable duty as needed.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Incumbents must be fingerprinted and clear a criminal backgrounds check.
- Specific training in large and small video broadcasts, sound design, lighting, and repair is preferred.
- Requires effective interpersonal skills to interact with individuals and groups at all organizational levels.
- Interacts with co-workers in both structured and unstructured situations.
- Requires the ability to write clear and concise production copy, reports and plans.
- Requires ability to use personal computer-based word processing and/or spreadsheets.
- Requires the ability to perform non-linear video editing.
- Requires an understanding of Windows and Apple hardware, software, and basic network troubleshooting. Proficiency with both the Apple and Microsoft platforms is preferred.
- Provides own transportation to school sites and other District locations.
- Ability to manage a livestream through web platform.
- Operates studio cameras during broadcasts
- Confers with directors and other crew members to discuss sequences, desired effects, camera movements and lighting requirements
- Knowledge of composition, frames, and light to achieve the effects sought by the production supervisor of the project
- Approved work-related travel expenses will be reimbursed when using personal transportation.
- Requires a demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and multi-task.
- Experience with Davinci Resolve editing platform preferred
- Requires the ability to manage the stress of Broadcast emergencies.
- Fluent in English and other language skills preferred
- Requires a valid Utah Driver's License.
- Lane 10 requirement:
- Bachelors in relevant field
- Lane 11 requirement:
- Bachelors in relevant field
- Must have 5 years production experience in broadcasting or similar field
NOTE: The Administration reserves the right to require specific training for this position. However, depending upon the type and quality of prior work experience and availability of formal training programs, some exchanges can be made between training and experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS---Not limited to the following:
- Requires sitting, standing, and walking. Uses fingers and arms to keyboard, pick up, and hold; uses eyes, ears, and voice for communication.
- Work in various environments including indoors, outdoors and varying temperatures.
- Carry and move equipment over various surfaces.
- Physical ability to perform the essential functions listed above with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Requires the ability to lift a minimum of Fifty (50) pounds.
- Possess the physical, mental, and emotional stability to work under stressful conditions, including but not limited to: deadlines, contract requirements, inspection requirements, and interaction with critical personnel.
