Looking for Direct Support Professionals

Looking for Direct Support Staff that are willing to work closely with a 46- year old man with Autism and epilepsy. This individual lives independently in his own home in Ben Lomond, where his 24/7 support team work closely with him to set, achieve and maintain his short and long-term goals, manage overall health, maintain his home, engage in community activities and build healthy relationships. This individual has interests in several things such as going for walks, horses and other animals, arts and crafts, music, etc.

We are looking for somebody who can support this individual with all of the following, but not limited to:

• Meal planning and prepping
• Grocery shopping
• Household chores
• Continually engaging with him to be active and get out into the community
• Developing healthy relationships and maintaining existing ones
• Physical activities
• Using facilitated communication
• Attending doctors appointments
• Visiting his mother once per month in Santa Cruz
• Personal care such as toileting and bathing
• Administering medications daily

Skills that would be beneficial in working with this individual:

• Creativity with meal planning and community activities
• Strong communication skills
• Good organization skills
• Familiarity with a healthy lifestyle

The ideal support staff would have some experience with:

• Experience with people who have autism
• Experience with people who have epilepsy
• Experience with facilitated communication
• Supported living or other in-home care
• Relevant experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities

Current support needed:

• Wednesday: 9am-9pm
• Thursday: 4pm-9pm
• Friday: 4pm-9pm
• Saturday: 9am-9pm

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
