Role Summary

The individual in this role will lead Marketing & Advertising Technology and Data strategy and implementation for the marketing organization. The responsibilities for this role include managing technology vendors (and evaluation process), partnering with the Digital team on developing the technology stack, partnering with the technology and analytics teams on developing the marketing data strategy and data flow, and managing requirements and technology builds across all platforms. This role is critical to establishing and continuously evolving agile, best in class, Ad Tech and CommsTech ecosystems while also fostering a high performing, collaborative and adaptive team. In addition to delivery technology projects on time and within budget, this role will be responsible for building the Mar Tech/ Ad Tech roadmap, managing budget and collaborating with partners on the execution.

This leader will manage a highly technical team of people that is the primary application owner for more than 15 applications required to drive best in class media and communications, encompassing direct day to day ownership of applications (such as: Adobe Campaign, AEP & JO, Message Center, SMS Gateway, Event Gateway, Liveclicker, Litmus, Contact Engine, Workfront, Quickbase, Stensul, etc ), as well as involvement with peripheral technologies and applications required for execution. They will partner with application owners, systems integrators, Consumer Analytics,, Digital, and Technology to advance our vision.

The successful candidate must be a self-starter and proven leader with experience in leading cross departmental teams and managing technology projects.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Team and organizational leadership will be critical to this leader’s and the overall team’s success.

  • Leads a team of ~7 full time employees and 3rd party agency support.

  • Provides career pathing for the organization that enables them to continue to grow their technical skills, while advancing both within their vertical and across other teams.

  • Create and foster a collaborative work environment across team and all departments.

The leader selected will oversee and be responsible for multiple tasks accelerating and executing Cox’s MarTech/AdTech disciplines.

  • Identifies, recommends, and influences business solutions; negotiates deliverables and requirements across multiple stakeholders.

  • Anticipates industry trends and applies as appropriate; ensures active roadmap is available and socialized with key partners.

  • Manages Martech budget of roughly $11M per year

  • Routinely produces and delivers executive-ready results & insights to cross-functional teams and senior leadership along with recommendations for improvement to future communications tactics and strategy

  • Responsible for all media Ad Tech and tagging for both Residential and Cox Business.

  • Defining data strategy, list management and data flow for list management and targeting across media and communications will be critical to the success of this role.

  • Pivoting away from manual operations to automated processes/data flows

  • Delivers an engagement model that encompasses business, vendor and technology roles and responsibilities relative to 24x7 application support to ensure no system down time or customer facing impacts.

A mastery of matrix management and cross partner (internal) relationship building will be necessary to advance the MarTech/AdTech disciplines in the business.

  • Provides strategic leadership with key business technology peers including Marketing

Operations, Analytics, Performance Measurement, .com, App & BOT teams, Cloud CRM teams and Technology relative to delivering 1:1 customer communications strategies.

  • Partners with Media COE on targeting and retargeting strategy and how best to bring data and technology together to target prospects and customers through communications and media.

  • Leads the marketing organization on privacy and future proofing, including solutions and processes to support legal compliance, but also new solutions to advance targeting and measurement without cookies.

  • Collaborates and partners closely with Consumer Analytics, ACOE and Technology relative to data integration, optimizing use of intelligence and migrating towards more AI driven decisioning.

  • Works closely with senior leadership to fully understand business priorities relative to comms tech modernization, representing the needs of Marketing, Care, Field, Sales and Product.

  • Consults with business leaders to define key performance indicators (KPI) and service levels, creates a process framework, and initiates and directs improvement activities, tracks ROI on strategic goals

Overseeing and governing 3rd party partners, their technologies, and technology roadmaps will be critical to the success of the team and the leader.

  • End-to-end Vendor Management including RFIs/RFPs, vendor selection, vendor contract negotiations, licensing and third-party support service strategy.

  • Leads selection, implementation, and maintenance of key applications, processes and technologies that are required for 1:1 customer communications.

  • Manages all Ad Tech solutions with top partners and vendors such as Meta, Google, Amazon, M1, Amp, Free Wheel, Tealium and Snapchat. Champion of Google ecosystem and advancement of GA4, Google Audiences, Value Based Bidding and propensity models.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

  • Requires BA/BS in related discipline and 10+ years of experience in r Marketing and Digital Technologies (MarTech) and/or IT, Technical Operations; or MS degree with 8+ years; or PhD with 5+years; or 14+ years of experience in lieu of a formal degree

  • 5+ years in a management/supervisory capacity.

  • First-hand experience integrating, launching, and day-to-day management of enterprise best in class tools like Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Marketing Cloud, and Ad Tech solutions

  • Requires strong knowledge of digital marketing ecosystems (.com experiences, digital advertising mediums, data cloud applications) and processes along with the roles that data marts and advanced analytics play in marketing

  • Deep understanding of analytics tools like Pega, SAS, AWS

  • Broad knowledge of all aspects of marketing including Search Engine Marketing, Real-Time Decisioning, customer journey management, event trigger marketing, segmentation, lead management, content marketing and campaign optimization

  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and presentation skills; works collaboratively with teams throughout the organization

  • Experience implementing or improving business processes using agile marketing methodologies

Preferred

  • Experience in the telecommunications industry desired


Compensation:

  • Compensation includes a base salary of $140,600.00 - $234,400.00. The salary rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's experience. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.
