Position Summary:
The Director of Business Continuity & Nursing Informatics is responsible for evaluation, coordination, implementation, and maintenance of Business Continuity/Downtime Processes and Nursing Clinical Informatics projects that enhance organizational function, improve patient and employee safety, and optimize Jackson Health System operational performance. Position also develops, maintains, and implements business impact analyses, strategy selection, and documentation of business continuity procedures and plans. The Director plans for and conducts routine/regular reviews and assessments to address mitigation strategies, adequacy of existing recovery plans, and revisions to written policies, procedures and plans; as well as acts as a coordinator for continuity efforts after a disruption event. This position provides management with the tools and guidance necessary for risk assessment, contingency planning, and disaster recovery as it relates to JHS clinical informatics systems.Responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of nursing clinical information systems. Promotes continued informatics development to enhance expert business process consultation to clinical staff across JHS. Serves as clinical informatics expert to all clinical staff and leadership across JHS. This position will assist in developing, implementing and assessing programs for all nursing areas and provides support for training respective staff. Maintains open communications with all staff members and nursing leadership. Lead in identifying opportunities and drive process for EHR: Implementation, Adoption, and Optimization. Ensure that end user documentation workflow is evidence based, supports optimal workflow and meets regulatory requirements. Monitor and develop action plan to address utilization issues. Position requires exercise of independent judgment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Oversees the Business Continuity interests of JHS by implementation, testing, education, review, integration, and maintenance of recovery and contingency plans, programs, and strategies as it relates to Nursing Informatics. Serves as a subject matter expert by demonstrating strong knowledge in risk evaluation and controls, business impact analysis, business strategy development, emergency response and operations, healthcare industry risks related to business continuity, disaster recovery planning and other related activities. Analyzes impact and risk of essential business functions and information systems. Identifies acceptable recovery time periods and resource requirements. Ensures the efficiency of systems and oversees security access. Develops business continuity plan templates and disaster recovery framework to ensure continuity of informatics operation. Works with all teams to identify concerning trends of outcomes that are undesirable to operations. Participates and leads when needed in creating strategies that mitigate this impact to operational flow. Creates business continuity and disaster recovery budgets as applicable. Develops and implements training programs and presentations including ensuring all business continuity and disaster recovery plans are well documented and presented. Ensures proper measures are in place to avoid fraud, cyber terrorism, infrastructure failure, and other potential catastrophes through the use of effective mitigation strategies. Oversees the analysis of data to identify trends and warnings indicating threat to people, assets, information, or infrastructure. Interacts with leadership regarding business continuity and disaster recovery plans. Ensures plans are up to date with plan owners. Manages, coaches and counsels staff members. Continually developing knowledge in emergency preparedness, business continuity and disaster recovery planning. Role models behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs other related duties as assigned. Serve as Business Continuity representative in meetings and communicates with CIO to ensure alignment with JHS Vision, Mission, and Objectives. Provides management and leadership to the staff to continuously improve clinical, financial and service outcome. Assists in development of performance, goals and objectives for the department consistent with the organization's overall strategic plan. Lead Clinical Informatics Team to achieve successful Nursing support - by implementing meaningful team rounding/support plan and updating as needed. Monitor and analyze the results of meaningful rounding and support plans to identify trends and opportunities for improvements. Identify with Clinical Informatics Team areas of opportunity to drive best practice and improve documentation in the electronic health record. Assures the successful achievement of balanced initiatives by effectively (connecting the dots/closing the loop) and promoting staff participation and shared leadership involvement. Drive Clinical Informatics Team effectiveness/outcomes and utilize efficiency data to support process improvement initiatives. Asses, manage and maintain a staffing plan that efficiently and effectively utilizes the appropriate resources across various facilities/locations throughout the enterprise, supporting our customers by ensuring appropriate levels of competency, skill mix and adequacy number of staff. Reviews Team outcomes and develop strategies to address areas for improvement. Execute plan and monitor/adjust as needed. Adjust plan as needed and communicate changes to team. Collaborate daily with the interdisciplinary team to ensure program efficiency and best quality outcomes. Serve as Nursing Informatics representative in meetings and communicates with CNE to ensure alignment with JHS Nursing Vision, Mission, and Objectives.
Qualifications
Experience:
Generally requires 5 to 7 years of related experience. Management experience is required.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in related field is required. Master's degree is preferred. Master in Informatics is also highly preferred
License Certification:
Florida Nursing license required.

Physical Demands:
Job function is sedentary in nature and requires sitting for extended periods of time. Function mayrequire frequent standing or walking.
