This is what you will do:
The US Field Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) Director is responsible for the development, organization and communication of relevant value propositions to support access and reimbursement of Alexion products. This role will have significant cross-functional responsibilities with U.S. Market Access, Medical Liaisons and field-facing Commercial Teams.
You will be responsible for:
- Utilizing in-depth knowledge of disease area and portfolio strategy in combination with health economics and outcomes research to develop and execute U.S. HEOR strategy. Accountable for the following:
- Delivery of customer-facing resources including Clinical Presentations and Healthcare Economics Information (HCEI) to qualified Market Access customers, including Payers, Pharmacy Benefit Managers, Specialty Pharmacies, Federal, State and Integrated Delivery Networks.
- Assisting in creation and management of customer-facing resources
- Providing continuous input into HEOR research strategies and support where/when needed
- Being able to communicate and discuss research relevant activities with customers including Value-Based Initiatives, concepts and/or contracts
- Ensuring compliance relevant to field function and activities
- Ensuring Alexion maintains external credibility and relationships to validate research findings and communications. Accountable for the following:
- Cultivating and maintaining relationships with key experts, influencers, and customer segments to foster and maintaining Alexion’s credibility to support the value and reimbursement of Alexion products
- Contributing to the global HEOR infrastructure to provide direction and guidance to Regional HEOR teams. Accountable for the following:
- Develops best practices in HEOR including approaches to areas including research methodologies, study designs, endpoints that provide scientifically sound protocols, policies, tools and outcome impact.
- Provides oversight and guidance to GHEOR Research Leads in order to improve and/or fill regional evidence needs and gaps.
- Identify areas for process improvements, economies of scale, and other quality and efficiency measures
- The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. As is typical of an office-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to: use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; problem solve; engage in complex and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.
You will need to have:
- Ph.D., Pharm.D. or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years prior experience in a Field-Based HEOR role (or similar capacity) in the biopharmaceutical/pharmaceutical industry
- Refined proficiency in economic evaluation of healthcare, HEOR study/model methodology, statistics, data reporting and real-world data/evidence
- Thorough understanding of the field of Health Technology Assessments relevant to U.S., e.g., ICER, Hayes etc.
- Understanding of the US health care and Market Access environment
- Knowledge of the drug development and commercialization process
- Recognized as a strong leader with a proven track record of effectively managing, influencing and developing people including those who are not direct reports: demonstrated ability to lead and deliver results in a matrix environment, and solve complex issues that cross multiple stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a track record of effectiveness as a team player; excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills
- Excellent project leader who can effectively manage multiple competing priorities to completion
- Global mindset and ability to work with multicultural teams
- Flexibility and adaptability to internal and external change
We would prefer for you to have:
- Experience and knowledge in rare disease conditions
