Job Description Summary
The Director, IT Program Manager is responsible for leading strategic technical assessments and prioritization, through managing the implementation of multiple projects within HarbourVest’s new private markets product execution and improvement. This role is part of the Enterprise Continuous Improvement Office reporting to the VP, Strategy & Product Execution. The Director will work closely with product business leads, technology platform leaders, and project teams to drive the full lifecycle of project delivery, from requirements definition through implementation, and ensuring change adoption. The Director will be ultimately accountable for the success of the technology program with a focus on enabling process through technology and will work closely with the business partners of the project to ensure objectives are delivered as expected. The Director may also be accountable for other business or process efforts that have IT components.
Job Skills & Experience
- PMI Certification required; Agile Scrum Master Certification (or equivalent) a plus; Six Sigma certification required; ADKAR change management certification (or equivalent) a plus.
- 10+ Years in IT Project Planning and management experience with experience in managing projects in both waterfall and Agile methodology and skilled in managing in an iterative environment.
- Experience taking projects from idea generation to implementation and transition to production support coordinating with others to manage and drive all aspects of solution delivery including requirements gathering, scope definition, resource planning, budget management, status reporting, risk management, change management, training, and change control.
- High attention to detail with excellent facilitation, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and to all functional groups; the ability to translate technical requirements and issues into appropriate context.
- Strong and proven experience in working with executive stakeholders, including building executive level content and presentations.
- Builds strong partnerships, with both internal and external partners, to achieve swift adoption of change and become a mentor and trusted advisor for ECI colleagues.
- Experience leading initiatives that involve 3rd party data integrations and experience with data quality, data governance, and data lineage components of project execution
- Ability to manage independently in a dynamic environment with rapid development cycles, multifunctional teams and tight project timeframes
- Ability to effectively resolve conflicts and remove obstacles.
- Financial Services industry preferred.
Responsibilities
IT Product Execution Capability Build
- Support VP, Strategy & Product Execution, in developing frameworks for executing technology programs for new HarbourVest products
- Define repeatable processes and clarify roles and responsibilities across business product teams, ECI project execution resources, and IT members
Program Assessment & Development
- During product development phase, drive assessments to determine the target technology and data operating model for the product
- Work across the HarbourVest value chain of business processes and technology platforms
- Partner with Business Product Lead and IT Leaders to lead technology and business teams to high-level roadmap creation including prioritization, budgeting and resource planning for execution
- Manage activities in a highly dynamic business environment with potentially shifting business timelines and developing business operating model
Program Execution
Enable effective execution through senior level program monitoring and management:
- Closely partner with IT and Technology Leads, third-party relationship leaders, and Steering Committees
- Manage scope and change requests, effectively lead parties through key decisions
- Maintain an up-to-date view of the HarbourVest ecosystem of technology platforms and strategic initiatives, specifically data and analytics strategy for third-party data integration, to appropriately consider dependencies, risks, and determine key design choices
Guide ECI IT Project Management resources to:
- Work closely with the business functional areas, technical teams and vendors in executing the determined roadmap, further defining systems/project priorities, scope, approach, resource requirements and timing deliverables
- Develop and manage project plans specifying goals, strategy, dependencies, staffing, scheduling, identification of risks, contingency plans, and allocation of available resources.
- Drive standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation.
- Facilitate projects by defining agendas and running meetings.
- Effectively drive the requirements definition process, working closely with the business owner(s) and/or a business analyst and IT resources such as architects, developers, analysts and systems team members.
- Effectively drive change management through strong communication and change plan developing including user acceptance testing, training, and delivery
- Coordinate vendor and third party activities by monitoring and tracking deliverables and commitments where relevant.
