Join a world-class academic healthcare system, Ingalls Memorial and UChicago Medicine’s Community Health and Hospital Division (CHHD), as Director of Ambulatory Services. In this role, the Director of Ambulatory Services implements strategic long-range business in alignment with the system’s ambulatory growth strategy, along with short-term operational plans to support the hospital’s ambulatory service network. This role partners with senior management in developing and implementing specific programs, products, and services for ambulatory programs. This role is highly engaging with staff at ambulatory sites around access, operational, service, and outcome goals. Our practice offers quick and convenient specialty and primary care for the whole family. This location is poised to introduce new specialties as well as enhance our Primary Care services as part of the CHHD’s strategic initiatives for the coming years.
In this role you will coordinate with senior management and managers/supervisors to ensure operational problems are resolved. You will be able to analyze and recommend changes in organizational systems, policies and procedures and ensure they are implemented in an effective manner. This role is highly engaging with staff at ambulatory sites around access, operational, service, and outcome goals.
Who you are:
A team player with the ability to positively impact change throughout various areas of the organization. You must also have a strong understanding of comprehensive care delivery model, and how to capture and capitalize on downstream revenue opportunities, within ancillary or wraparound services. You must have advanced understanding of physician practices and operations including hiring and management of staff, patient relations, medical staff policies/procedures, marketing, physician office startups, coding EHR/Practice Management and IT systems.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s degree is preferred
- At least 8 years of relevant experience with 5 or more years of progressive leadership experience overseeing an ambulatory practice network
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with physician leaders and in a highly matrixed environment
- Exceptional talent in the selection and mentoring of high-quality, effective teams
- Proven ability to lead change, organize and engage teams, and delegate responsibility appropriately
- Provide ability to use data to drive performance improvement
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel to other ambulatory sites as needed
- Experience using LEAN for performance improvement
- Prior experience in Epic transformation projects

What you’ll do as the Director of Ambulatory Services at Ingalls Memorial CHHD:
- You will provide strong project management skills and lead teams through large scale transformation projects
- You will lead our Neurophysiology program across the CHHD sites and support the Physicians and technicians in that field.
- Monitor the performance of our ambulatory services and patient care activities and provides related timely reports, analyses, and recommendations for improvement.
- You will identify and implement initiatives to increase the profitable growth of diagnostic and ancillary services in our family care centers.
- Hold the responsibility of matrix managing of the ambulatory staff across all locations to ensure appropriate levels of care and development and maintenance of standards.
- Oversee and direct operations including, but not limited to assessment of current methods of operation and regulatory compliance, recommending, and implementing changes, policy and procedure review and updates, etc., as required.
- You will advise medical staff, department heads, and administrators in matters related to cancer nursing services and makes recommendations to further align standards to the care model. This will include developing and improving upon methods needed to communicate Ambulatory care model approaches and protocols.
- You will work with the various work groups including patients, physicians, co-workers and customers.
- Facilitate work groups for organizational effectiveness projects which use standard work and LEAN principles to drive continuous process improvement.
- You will be responsible for providing management services to employee groups, staffing needs, and training opportunities
- Determine your own professional needs through ongoing self-assessment and evaluation of total role performance and assume responsibility for meeting those needs and maintaining skill in clinical/professional specialty area.

Must comply with Ingalls Memorial Hospital's COVID-19 Vaccination requirement as a condition of employment.
