TITLE: DIRECTOR OF CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Master’s degree or higher
2. Valid Ohio Administrator License
3. At least eight years of successful experience in teaching, administration and/or supervision
4. Extensive experience and/or knowledge of career-technical, tech prep, and adult education initiatives
5. An understanding of the current trends in career-technical and post-secondary education
6. Knowledge of Perkins and state funding rules and experience in budgeting
REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction
SUPERVISES: Career Technical employees as assigned
JOB GOAL: To provide knowledge and skills which will assist district staff in developing and implementing the most relevant and effective career-technical education programs
RESPONSIBILITIES: 1 Conducts continuous assessment of career-technical education needs within the district
2. Establishes and maintains good working relationships with business and industry, post-secondary partners, and outside agencies
3. Represents the district in all areas of career-technical education
4. Promotes, establishes and maintains secondary career-technical education programs to educate students to become college and career ready and to meet the needs of business and industry
5. Coordinates career-technical education curriculum development and refinement, student recruitment, student placement, and student follow-up results for career- technical education
6. Assists in the selection and assessment of career-technical education instructors
7. Coordinates the budgetary needs of career-technical education
8. Coordinates and interprets the district, state, and federal career-technical education policies and maintains a working relationship with other local, state and federal agencies as well as legislators
9. Prepares local, state, and federal reports
10. Submits and implements special programs and grants available through the State
Department of Career-Technical Education, including the Adult Learning Hub.
11. Coordinates post-secondary training institutions’ articulation agreements available to career-technical students

12. Encourages and endorses active student organizations for career-technical students
13. Provides leadership to staff in developing and implementing a comprehensive career education program, including Career Planning Tools, Career Assessments, and Career Passports
14. Develops CTPD, Career Education, and Tech Prep proposals in collaboration with district stakeholders and outside agencies and institutions
15. Coordinates licensure process with universities and instructors who are in licensure process
16. Provides leadership and evaluation of the Career Tech Student Support Specialist,
Career Pathways Specialist, Career Tech Technology Specialist and Project
SEARCH Coordinator
17. Coordinates Technology Education curriculum development
18. Knowledgeable of career-technical curriculum with the ability to communicate that knowledge as a member of the district curriculum team. Providing leadership and direction in curriculum with the ability to drive instructional change through the integration of academics and career-technical education.
19. Prepares and submits all CTE-26 program approval requests to the Ohio
Department of Education
20. Coordinates all CTE College Credit Plus options and CTAG college credit options
21. Supervises and evaluates Career Technical employees as assigned
22. Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum
