Responsibilities:

  • Identifies clinical development opportunities for CQI Directors and facility staff.
  • Provides information about clinical “best practices” to regional teams.
  • Facilitates clinical accountability with management data, i.e., Key Indicator Reports, Monthly Skin Reports, Quality Measures/Quality Indicators, Risk Management Program, Performance Improvement visits and Site Visits; uses and analyzes this data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Supports and facilitates DMS values, practice standards, and ethics policies and procedures.
  • Schedules facility visits with Administrators, CQI Directors and RVPs based on facility needs.
  • Assists with Regional DON Meetings as needed.
  • Assists the VP of Quality Management and Clinical Services to coordinate and conduct clinically oriented training and meetings.
  • Prepares for and communicates weekly on quality issues with VP, Quality Management and Clinical Services.
  • Maintains knowledge of scheduled and current changes in Federal regulations.
  • Reviews and updates facility/regional management teams on Federal, State, and Local regulations, as needed. Monitors compliance via site visits as needed.
  • Reviews and updates facility/regional management teams on DMS’s Guidelines, Clinical Standards, new initiatives and Risk Management Standards.
  • Assists in the monitoring, identification of trends and development of action plans to improve quality of care and quality of life for residents/patients.
  • Monitors facility wide compliance with regulatory surveys on an ongoing basis.
  • Collaborates with CQI Directors in the use of Key Indicator and Quality Indicator data and the development of strategies to improve outcomes of care.
  • Communicates with regional team managers (e.g. dietary, finance, marketing, reimbursement, pharmacy, rehabilitation, etc.) regarding quality issues and customer satisfaction concerns.
  • Follow up on site visit trends/recommendations made to facility that impact the quality of services.
  • Attends stand-up meeting, department head meeting, Weekly Focus meetings, care planning conference, PPS meeting, Risk Management Meeting etc. and provides guidance to increase effectiveness of these meetings as needed.
Qualifications:
  • RN License in good standing in the practicing states or through the National Nurse Compact.
  • Knowledge and understanding of LTC regulatory processes i.e. Federal, and/or State Regulations.
  • Five (5) years previous clinical/management experience in Long Term Care with Director of Nursing experience required and regional experience preferred.
  • Flexibility to travel. Overnight travel may be required secondary to regulatory, disaster preparedness issues or assignment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective management and leadership skills.
  • Effective training skills.
  • Business acumen.
  • Computer literacy skills (Power Point, Outlook, Microsoft office, internet, etc).
  • Public Relations skills.
  • Prefer knowledge and understanding of the RAI Process and Medicare/Medicaid requirements.
