Director of Clinical Perioperative and Procedural Operations

UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital is seeking a seasoned and collaborative Director of Perioperative and Procedural Clinical Operations to join us at our medical campus in Harvey, IL. This position directs the clinical operations and activities of Perioperative and Procedural Services. The director works directly with the Vice President of Operations to provide administrative and financial direction for the hospital’s operating rooms and procedural areas. The Director of Perioperative and Procedural Clinical Operations provides leadership using LEAN process redesign and improvement, work flow and logistics analysis, revenue enhancement, cost reduction and control, capital budgeting, and operations budgeting.
- A Bachelor's degree; Masters’ degree in a business or healthcare-related field strongly preferred
- Minimum 5 years clinical experience of hospital management experience
- Experience in Perioperative or Procedural Services highly preferred
- Licensed Registered Nurse in Illinois preferred
- Strong knowledge of expense reduction strategies, financial performance measurement, forecasting, and budgeting
- Knowledge of capital acquisition process and skilled in decision making for strategic investments & ROI analysis
- Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated leadership qualities, and record of related accomplishments
- Knowledge of Operating Room billing procedures
- Sterile processing and logistics knowledge
- Knowledge of purchasing and supply distribution procedures
- AORN certification, CPPS, or other national certification
What you’ll gain as a Director of Perioperative and Procedural Clinical Operations:
- Visability reporting to the Vice President of Operations, and will collaborate with ACNO, Director of Finance and CFO, and the COO-to provide operational, administrative and financial direction for the hospital’s operating rooms and procedural areas.
- Ability to provide Leadership using LEAN process redesign and improvement, workflow and logistics analysis, revenue enhancement, cost reduction and control, capital budgeting, and operations budgeting.
What you’ll do as the Director of Perioperative and Procedural Clinical Operations:
- Develop, implement, and monitor improvements to internal departmental operations including instrument processing and logistics, supply utilization, labor utilization, patient flow, and ancillary department support.
- Assure compliance with regulatory bodies.
- Command and facility with the application of AORN standards
- Identify benchmarked operating standards where efficiencies can be obtained, studies, and implements such operational changes.
- Influence external departments to implement workflow changes that result in service improvements and cost reductions.
- Develop, interpret, and achieve departmental goals through active participation in committee work and task force assignments as needed.
- Identify issues, present strategies, and act as a change agent.
- Build relationships with essential services to provide additional process, analytical and technology support.
- Plan for capital acquisition and facility planning, participates in economic payback and supports operational efficacy evaluation.
- Develop, implement, and monitor budget within established guidelines also manages project planning and scheduling.
- Monitor and report on deliverables and milestones as defined in the project schedule, view status in light of goals and re-prioritize activities as needed.
- Establish plans for long and short-term provision of supplies and equipment to meet the needs of the patient care and administrative activities while demonstrating cost-conscious decision-making in collaboration with medical staff on selection, use and control of equipment and supplies.
- Create strong partnerships with internal partners and external vendors and providers.
- Ensure accuracy of financial and other program data.
