DIRECTOR OF ENGAGEMENT SERVICES
FULL-TIME / EXEMPT
STARTING WAGE: $85,000 - $90,000

PROGRAM INFORMATION:*
Larkin Street Drop-Ins and Youth Access Points are drop-in centers that offer information to youth about housing, access to meals, case management, group activities, individual and group counseling, and other daily needs. We also provide physical and mental health services. In addition, we have education programs that meet youth where they are, as well as offer a variety of job opportunities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:*
Reporting to the Division Director of Youth Development, the Director of Engagement Services will be responsible for overseeing Larkin Streets' two major points of entry: the Haight Street Referral Center (HSRC) and the Engagement Community Center (ECC).

The Director of Engagement Services will:_*

  • Embody leadership, including driving a unified vision for the division and serving as the spokesperson and primary advocate for the division's programs in the broader community.
  • Develop, oversee and evaluate programming within each entity of the division.
  • Promote collaboration, cross-training, and dual programming among program teams within the division and throughout the agency.
  • Foster professional development for employees at all levels of the division.
  • Serve as a member of the agency's Senior Management Team and as such, be the liaison between the Engagement Division, other Larkin Street programs, and the administrative arm of the agency.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:*

  • Oversee the HSRC and ECC management teams, actively supporting their work with direct service staff.
  • Facilitate access to Engagement services, through the development of staff capacity to understand and demonstrate principles of welcoming, client-centered, culturally competent care that is responsive to the needs of homeless, disconnected, and marginalized youth.
  • In coordination with the leadership team, oversee budgets, data collection and tracking, contract requirements, and program outcomes.
  • Strategic planning for the expansion and enhancement of engagement services.
  • Lead and oversee the development of partnerships with the San Francisco professional and business and education community, as well as the public entities of the City and County and other community-based organizations to address the education and employment needs of homeless youth.
  • Present and train on behalf of Larkin Street at a local and national level.
  • Provide leadership and advocacy in relations with local state and federal public entities and community-based organizations to educate the community about the needs of homeless youth.
  • Identify and support the training and professional development needs of HSRC and ECC staff.
  • On-call Consultant responsibilities associated with the position.

  • Ability to work with a diverse staff and excel in a multicultural environment.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.

BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE:

  • At least five years of management and supervisory experience.
  • Previous experience overseeing program design and development, implementation and operations, project integration and management across multiple agency sites; staff supervision and training; and budget management.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, including public speaking
  • Strong Commitment to the agency and philosophy of Larkin Street Youth Services
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
