Job description

The Framingham State University Entrepreneur Innovation Center (EIC) espouses these qualities with its mission to create jobs in MetroWest through the creation and growth of innovatively-focused businesses, as well as to spark greater student knowledge of entrepreneurship and innovation.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The director of the Entrepreneur Innovation Center (EIC) serves as co-working services manager, instructor for the EIC internship course ENTR 495, internship program manager, community liaison, career coach, and incubator manager.
Co-working Services Management
- Provide members with a quality co-working environment.
- Maintain the facility with assistance from the university Facilities Department.
- Grow membership and increase revenue generation through networking events, community outreach, social media, and partnership with Workbar
- Maintain 'Café Ruth' for member coffee and food prep (also 3rd floor café)
- Seek and recruit for a diverse membership, especially young entrepreneurs, female founders, persons of color, new Americans, etc. that reflects FSU student body and the Framingham and surrounding community.
Teaching Responsibilities
- Teach ENTR495 Entrepreneurship Practicum Seminar
- Work with students interested in Directed Study courses
- Conduct entrepreneurship workshops to community organizations (e.g., Framingham Public Library)
- Guest lecture in Entrepreneurship courses on various innovation and venture capital topics I
Internship Program manager
- Manage the internship program connecting interested students with member companies at the Center and in the local community
- Draft internship project proposals with member assistance.
- Work to ensure that intern experiences are high value, intellectually engaging, and culturally diverse as well as personally comfortable for all students
- Source scholarship funding (e.g., CHOICE and Pathways) for student interns
- When necessary, use Center budget to pay students for staffing positions at the Center
- Engage local startups and young companies to facilitate internship opportunities.
Community Liaison & Partnerships
- Maintain strong working relationships with Workbar for member sourcing.
- Work with the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce to reach out to local businesses for Center membership growth.
- Maintain relationships with area organizations, like the Rotary Club, SMOC, MWRTA, MassBay Community College.
- Visit area organizations to present details about the Center, its internship program, networking activities, etc. Promote the Center in the MetroWest market.
Career Coaching Services
- Work collaboratively with Career Services to provide career coaching services to students pursuing entrepreneurship career paths.
- Work collaboratively with the College of Business to conduct 1-on-1 career coaching sessions, workshops, and other student success initiatives when requested.
Incubator manager
- Foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship by encouraging students to base their startup companies in the Center's 3rd floor INCUBATOR
- Maintain the INCUBATOR office space with resources for multiple student teams
- Advise student startup as well as source advisors from the member ranks and the local market.
- Source investors for educational and investment purposes for student teams.
- Pursue grant opportunities for the Center.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Supervise student interns in the Center.

Reports to the Dean of Business
EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The director leads the center, manages operations, and recruits new entrepreneurs, as well as performs other duties as required. The director is in charge of growing the number of entrepreneurs in the center, and at the same time is responsible for day-to-day operations. To support the center, the director recruits and selects student interns and matches them with entrepreneurs. The director also teaches a two-hour four-credit seminar once a week with the interns. The director explores and secures external funding for the center to help support its growth and mission (this includes seeking funding for paid internships for students and other opportunities for the entrepreneurs). External funding can come from grants, contracts, donor gifts, and fees for workshops offered to the community.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge and experience working in a co-working environment (for entrepreneurs)
- Master's Degree required, a Ph.D. or work towards a Ph.D. preferred
- Work experience in a managerial position (two years) or leading own business (five years)
- Experience in innovative or entrepreneurial companies
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Teaching experience at college level or in corporate training.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible, non-unit position. The salary range is $80,000-90,000.
